3261: Legality of springs
<R19>[<R19>] I have a question regarding springs. A team recently asked me if they could use a spring on their robot. For example if they used a spring on a claw to get it to automatically close without motor power would that be legal? thank you Kamin

Commercially available springs are not legal for use on VEX V5 Competition Robots. Springs are not included in the non-VEX components permitted by <R19> or <R22>, and per <R16>, components not included in the V5RC Legal Parts List are not legal for competition use. Springs that are included as part of an official VEX V5 product remain legal, subject to <R27> and <R28>.
