3282: Midfield Control for AWP
<SC8> includes "At least six (6) Pin Halves Scored for your Alliance. (Does not include Pin Halves Scored in Quadrants on the opposing side of the Autonomous Line.)"
If an alliance controls, or shares control of the midfield at the end of Autonomous, are any pins there counted as meeting the 6 pin requirement?
Note: the requirement for World Qualifying events is 7 pins.
<SC7>, part A clarifies that end-of-Match calculations are not included the Autonomous Period, and Autonomous Bonus calculations. However, the game manual is silent on AWP and end-of-Match calculations.
The Scoring methods that rely on Robots’ end-of-Match positioning in the Midfield (e.g., Robots ending in the Midfield and Ownership of yellow Pins in the Midfield) are not included in Autonomous Period scoring calculations because they are not evaluated at the end of the Autonomous Period (only at the end of the Match, per <SC5.b> and <SC6>). <SC7.a> is intended to clarify and call attention to that detail.
<SC5.b> states, "For Pins Placed in the Midfield Goal, the yellow Pin Halves are Owned by the Alliance that ends the Match with a greater number of Robots in the Midfield." Yellow Pin Halves in the Midfield cannot be considered Owned until the end of the Match, which means they cannot be considered Scored for the Autonomous Period and cannot count toward Autonomous Win Point criteria.
Red and blue Pin Halves do not carry that same stipulation. For Pins Placed in the Midfield Goal, any visible red or blue Pin Halves would be evaluated at the end of the Autonomous Period, counting toward both Autonomous Period scoring and Autonomous Win Point criteria.
