7:30–8:45 AM – Team Check-In / Robot Inspection
8:30 AM – Judging / Team Interviews begin
8:45 AM – Drivers & Coaches Meeting
9:00 AM – Welcome / Opening Ceremony
9:15 AM – Qualification Matches begin
9:15 AM–12:00 PM – Qualification Matches / Robot Skills / Judging
12:00–1:00 PM – Lunch Break
1:00 PM – Qualification Matches resume
2:30 PM – Robot Skills closes
Approximately 3:00 PM – Qualification Matches conclude
Approximately 3:15 PM – Alliance Selection

Venue Information

The Big Gym will serve as the primary event area for R5 February Faceoff, including the competition fields, team pits, check-in/inspection, Robot Skills, and other primary tournament activities.

Additional spaces on campus may be used as needed for judging, team activities, concessions/lunch, practice areas, or event support.

Teams and spectators should follow posted signs and volunteer directions upon arrival.

• Teams should arrive early enough to complete check-in and robot inspection before 8:45 AM.
• Teams that are running late should contact the Event Partner as soon as possible.
• Engineering Notebooks will be submitted remotely according to the instructions and deadline posted on the event page.
• Team interviews will take place throughout the morning and early afternoon.
• Robot Skills fields will close at 2:30 PM. Teams are responsible for completing their available Skills runs before the field closes.
• Lunch is scheduled from 12:00–1:00 PM. Additional food/concession information will be posted closer to the event.
• Following Qualification Matches, teams should be prepared for Alliance Selection and Elimination Matches.
• Times after lunch may shift slightly depending on the final number of teams, matches, judging, and other event needs.

Voluntario

Volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated!

VEX events depend on volunteers to help keep the day running smoothly. Referees help keep competition fair, Emcees keep things exciting, Queuers help teams stay on schedule, and many other volunteers work behind the scenes throughout the event.

Individuals, parents, coaches, community members, and team supporters interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact:

Tournament Volunteer Expectations

For this event, we are asking each participating school or organization to help provide:

• At least one adult volunteer
• At least one student volunteer to assist with field reset

Depending on the role, volunteer shifts may be available so individuals may not need to work the entire event.

If you have someone interested in serving as a Referee, Judge, Scorekeeper Referee, Queuer, Emcee, Field Reset Volunteer, or other event volunteer, please reach out.

If anyone would like help getting trained or certified for a volunteer role, let us know. We are happy to help connect volunteers with training resources before the event.

Emergency / Bad Weather Policy

In the event of severe weather, an emergency, or other circumstances that could affect the safety or operation of the event, Mambo @ R5 may be delayed, postponed, or cancelled.

If there are any changes to the event, teams will be notified as soon as possible using the contact information associated with their event registration.

Please make sure your team’s contact information is current and accurate, including a contact method that can be reached outside of normal school hours.

Teams should check their email and the event page the evening before and again the morning of the tournament before leaving for the event.

If the event must be postponed or cancelled, additional information regarding rescheduling or other next steps will be communicated to registered teams as soon as it becomes available.

Please do not travel to the venue if local conditions are unsafe.

Registration fees are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the Event Partner.

If February Faceoff must be cancelled due to severe weather, an emergency, or other circumstances beyond our control, registered teams will be contacted as soon as possible with information regarding refunds or rescheduling.

If the event is postponed or rescheduled, registration will remain with the event and additional information will be provided to registered teams.

Teams that choose not to attend, withdraw after registering, or are unable to attend for reasons unrelated to an event cancellation will not receive a refund.

Parking & Arrival

• The Big Gym parking lot may be accessed from Enterprise Blvd. or 5th Street.
• The circle drive and central parking area may also be accessed from Enterprise Blvd.
• Additional overflow parking may be available along 7th Street and 1st Avenue. Please be aware that these areas may require a longer walk to the gym.
• Teams unloading robots, tools, and equipment should follow posted signs and volunteer directions upon arrival.
• Please avoid parking or driving on grassy areas, especially if the ground is soft or wet.
• Do not block fire lanes, driveways, loading areas, or other marked restricted areas.

Campus Information

Competition fields, team pits, check-in, inspection, and most tournament activities are planned for the Big Gym.

Additional campus spaces may be used for:

• Judging and team interviews
• Robot Skills
• Practice areas
• Concessions and lunch
• Volunteer or event support areas

Please follow event signage and volunteer directions when moving between buildings.

Construction or other campus activities may affect access to certain areas. Any restricted areas will be marked and should remain off limits to teams and spectators.

Arrival Reminder

Teams should plan to arrive with enough time to unload, park, check in, and complete robot inspection before 8:45 AM.

If a team is running late or experiences travel issues, please contact the Event Partner as soon as possible.

Judging

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In-Person Team Interviews

Team interviews will be conducted in person at the event.

Engineering Notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation before the event. Teams should follow the notebook submission instructions provided through the event registration system and submit their notebook by the posted deadline. February 12

Team Interviews

Judges will conduct team interviews throughout the event. Teams should make sure students are available when judges arrive at the pit area or when directed to an interview location.

If a team is unavailable when judges attempt to conduct an interview, judges may return later as time allows.

Engineering Notebooks

Engineering Notebooks should be submitted digitally by the deadline posted on the event page.

Teams are responsible for making sure the correct notebook is submitted and accessible to the judging team.
