Yleistä tietoa

General Info

We are pleased to welcome teams to the CIS IQ Robotics Competitiuon Opener, hosted by the CIS RoboGrizzly Academy at the Canadian International School of Guangzhou.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 8:00 AM–6:00 PM and is designed to give teams an opportunity to prepare for the new VEX Robotics season through a full day of building, programming, skills practice, referee training, and competitive scrimmages.

Rather than waiting for the first major tournament of the season, teams can use the CIS Season Opener to get their robots on the field, test designs, improve programming, learn from other teams, and gain valuable match experience in a collaborative competition environment.

The participation fee is 50 RMB per student. This event is open to Southern ACAMIS member schools and English bilingual schools. All registrations are subject to approval by the Event Partner.

Event Schedule & Activities

Throughout the day, students and coaches will have opportunities to take part in a range of activities designed to help teams prepare for the season:

  • Building Workshops – Improve robot design, construction techniques, mechanisms, and reliability.
  • Programming Workshops – Develop and test autonomous routines and improve programming strategies.
  • Referee Workshops – Learn more about the current game rules, scoring, and how VEX competitions are officiated.
  • Scrimmage Matches – Put your robot on the competition field and gain valuable match experience.
  • Skills Challenges – Test both driver-controlled and autonomous performance and work toward improving your Skills scores.

The emphasis of the day is on learning, testing, improving, and competing. Teams are encouraged to share ideas, make changes throughout the day, and use the event as an opportunity to prepare for the competitions ahead.

Competition Details

The CIS Season Opener is a scrimmage and season-development event rather than a championship qualifier.

Teams will have opportunities to compete in practice and scrimmage matches while also participating in Skills Challenges. The format is designed to provide significant field time so students can identify weaknesses, make improvements, and return to the field to test their changes.

This is particularly valuable early in the season, when teams are still developing their robots, autonomous programs, driving strategies, and understanding of the game.

A Final Note

The RoboGrizzlies believe the best way to improve is to DESIGN • BUILD • CODE • COMPETE.

Whether your team arrives with a finished competition robot or a machine that is still under development, the goal is to leave CIS with a stronger robot, better programming, improved game knowledge, and more competition experience than when you arrived.

Bring your robot, your tools, your ideas, and your team spirit. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Guangzhou for the CIS Season Opener.

Consent Form

All participating students should have the appropriate permission and consent required by their school or organization before attending the event.

If CIS will be collecting a specific event consent form, image-release form, liability waiver, or VEX participant release, I would add the exact requirements here once they are confirmed rather than stating requirements that you may not actually be using.
