JUST ART AND MANAGEMENT MIDDLE SCHOOL is thrilled to present this VEX IQ tournament. We anticipate a day brimming with robotics competition and enthusiasm. We can't wait to witness the brilliance of all teams!

Every participant is required to fill out the participant release form. This form, also accessible in Spanish, needs to be completed just once for the entire season, encompassing all events.

  • Arrival/Check-in: Students, Coaches, and parents should make every effort to arrive by 7:45 AM to check-in on time, with Inspection-ready robots.
  • Code of Conduct/Student Centered: All participants should abide by the Code of Conduct  and the Student Centered Policy PARENTS PLEASE REVIEW CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS 
  • Pits and Competition Area: Check the information in the envelope given to the Coach at check-in. Only coaches and the teams should be at the pits. Parents are invited to sit and enjoy the matches in the competition area.  Your pit number is your team number. Please stay in your pit area between competing to make it eaiser for other for teams to find you to work on strategy and so judges can located you for interviews.
  • Inspections: All robots should pass inspection after check-in. Inspections open at 8:00 AM and close at 8:45 AM. To avoid delays on the day of the competition, please pre-inspect your robots at your schools.
  • Charging Stations: Please bring your chargers, batteries, charging cables, extension cords, and power strips to the competition.
  • Practice Fields: Practice Fields are allowed as long as there is space. We will have limited space in a designated area for practice fields. If you bring a practice field, it is expected you will allow other teams to practice on the field with you. 

Volunteers are welcome.

Engineering notebooks

Engineering notebooks will be collected digitally but we recommend to print and bring a hard copy with you.

Lunch and Concessions

Concessions and lunch will be available.

Finals Matches

Up to 24 teams will be paired up and top qualifiers will participate in the Finals.

Competition Preparation

All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

 

Review all game information: Current Game Webpage

  1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX IQ parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the IQ Robot Inspection Checklist

  2. Check the official Q&A for rule updates and changes.

  3. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on events.vex.com

  4. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.

    • Spare parts & tools

    • Batteries and chargers

    • Power strip and extension cord

    • Laptop computer

    • Programming cable

    • Engineering notebook (Required for judged awards)

    • Banners and other decorations for your team pit table

    • Giveaways if you have them

  5. Be sure to read 101 Things You Should Know Before Your First VEX Tournament.

  6. Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament.

  7. Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judge's Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

  8. Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.

  9. Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your IQ Brain.

Participation and Consent Form

A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to events.vex.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament. Online Consent Form

Opening and Drivers meeting at 9:00 a.m.

Skills open 9:30 a.m.

Qualification Matches begin at 9:30 a.m.

Lunch 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Skills 12:45 p.m. until the end of Qualification Matches. 

Qualification Matches 12:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Finals 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Awards 4:00 p.m

Vapaaehtoistyö

Volunteers are always welcome and greatly appreciated! All volunteers are trained at the event, so there is no prior experience required. Some roles are for adults only, but many are open to students. All volunteers will be provided free lunch and drinks.

Students can earn community service hours for volunteering at the event! Students must bring a physical copy of their school's service hour form to the event to be signed by the Event Partner.

In the event of an emergency cancellation or other change in plans, teams will be notified via the team contact information available through events.vex.com. Please check to insure contact emails and phone numbers are correct and up-to-date.

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

Refunds will only be made if the event is canceled.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event and then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

Registrations will not be refunded for teams that register but choose not to come. Any team unpaid by payment November 4, 2026 will be removed from the registered team list without notification and placed on the waiting list.

  • Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
