3262: SG7e Violation Clarification
I was with a few other Head Refs discussing the game and we wanted to clarify the Violation Notes for SG7e -- specifically, Violation Notice 2 states "...or the interactions described in <SG7e> will be considered Major Violations and should result in a Disqualification for the Match."
Last year, the loss of the Auton Bonus and AWP was the only penalty for violating this section. However, with the new notes, it appears there is an additional penalty and that we should be DQ'ing a team any time SG7e happens during Autonomous. This seems overly punitive for an Auton mistake and leaves that team with no reason to continue the match after the first 20 seconds. Is this the correct interpretation of this rule and violation note?
The interactions described in <SG7e> are not automatically Major Violations. Violation Note 2 of <SG7> applies only to Violations that are intentional, strategic, or egregious.
If contact described in <SG7e> is accidental or incidental, it is a Minor Violation. The opposing Alliance receives the Autonomous Bonus and Autonomous Win Point (unless they also committed a Violation during the Autonomous Period), per <SG7e> and <SG7> Violation Note 1.
If contact described in <SG7e> is determined by the Head Referee to be intentional, strategic, or egregious, it is a Major Violation and should result in a Disqualification for the Match, per <SG7> Violation Note 2.
