Welcome

Welcome to the VEX IQ Spotlight Event at Margaritaville Beach Resort! We are excited to host teams from across the region for a weekend of innovation, teamwork, and competition. This Spotlight Event offers teams the opportunity to compete in a professionally managed event while enjoying one of the Texas Gulf Coast's premier destinations.

Through this event teams will be able to qualify for their perspective regions as well as battle for the coveted world's spot by winning the most prestigious Excellence award.

Parking

• Complimentary parking is available for all teams and spectators.
• Oversized trailers buses and RV's can rent over night spaces for $125
• Please do not leave valuables unattended in vehicles.

 

Team Check-In

Each team must check in upon arrival. Their coach may check on on their behalf to minimize congestion in line.

Please have:

• Team numbers on plates
• Signed participant consent forms (if required)
• Payment confirmation (if applicable)
• Robot ready for inspection

 

Robot Inspection

All robots must successfully pass inspection before participating in: Coaches should ensure teams robots pass inspection before arrival at the event. Please refrence the Inspection sheet.

Competition Divisions

- There will be two separate qualifying tournaments in one location. There will be no separate divisions. There are 40 team spots in each tournament. 

What to Bring

Each team should bring:

• Competition Robot
• Controller
• Fully charged batteries
• Battery chargers
• Spare parts and tools
• Programming device (if needed)
• Team notebook (Notebooks required to be digital) 

 

Food & Beverage

Margaritaville offers several onsite dining options.  Lunch options will be preordered- forms will be sent out to teams after registration. 

Outside food and beverages are permitted only in designated areas unless otherwise announced.

 

Spectators

Families and spectators are welcome!

Please:

• Remain in designated viewing areas.
• Keep aisles and pit spaces clear.
• Remember the G-2 rule and do not handle the robots in any capacity. This is a student-centered event.
• Cheer respectfully for every team.

Crystal Beach weather can change quickly.

Please:

• Dress comfortably.
• Bring a light jacket for air-conditioned spaces.
• Stay hydrated.
• Check local weather before traveling.
