The end caps on toggles are attached to the triangular tube with two button head screws, one on the flat yellow side, and one on the vertex between the red and blue sides. As the toggle is rotated, depending on the precise alignment of the metal support brackets, and perhaps changing over the course of vigorous tournament play, the support brackets can slightly shift such that the vertex screw head can catch on them, resisting rotation. This can lead to differing behavior of the toggle depending on orientation, with enough resistance to affect auton reliability. This resistance would happen in transition between yellow and red on blue quadrants, and between yellow and blue on red quadrants, if brackets were misaligned such that the screw happens to catch. The metal support brackets have a channel cut into them which most of the time allows the screw heads to pass through without resistance, suggesting intent. The questions then seem to be:

Is this "minor field variance", and therefore teams should be prepared to encounter additional toggle resistance from the vertex screw head sometimes?

Could or should the vertex toggle screw not be attached (for example), eliminating this problem? The flat surface screw on the opposite side does not seem to cause resistance problems, or problems with the toggle seating, and should still hold the toggle end caps in place on the toggle tube.
