Q&A Oficial: VEX V5 Robotics Competition 2026-2027: Override
3219: Clarification on Indirect Goal Interactions, Dislodged Pins, and Forced Violations (<SG9>, <SG10>, <GG16>)
Dear Game Design Committee,
We have a few questions on interactions with Goals.
<SG9>: “Robots may not directly or indirectly interact with opposing Alliance-colored Goals.”
<SG10>: “Placed Scoring Objects cannot be removed from neutral Goals.”
<GG16>: A Robot may not force an opposing Robot into a violation.
Our first question is, if a Robot contacts a neutral Goal itself, but does not directly contact any of the Placed Pins, and the impact or movement of the Goal causes a Placed Pin to fall, would this violate <SG10>? Or does the Robot need to directly contact the Placed Pin for <SG10> to apply?
Our second question is, if a Red Robot and a Blue Robot are both competing for the same Toggle, and the Red Robot pushes the Blue Robot toward a neutral Goal, causing a Placed Pin to fall, would the Red Robot violate <SG10>? Would Red still be considered in violation if Red was only trying to compete for the Toggle and did not intentionally try to remove the Pin? Would Red also violate <GG16> for forcing Blue into an interaction that would otherwise be a violation?
Our last question is, if the same situation happens with a Blue Alliance-colored Goal, where Red and Blue are competing for the same Toggle and Red pushes Blue into the Blue Alliance Goal, would the Red Robot violate <SG9>? Would this count as indirect interaction with an opposing Alliance-colored Goal even though Red was only trying to compete for the Toggle? Would Red also violate <GG16> for forcing Blue into the Goal interaction?
If any of the situations described above are determined to be violations, would the consequence be different depending on whether the violation occurs during a Qualification Match or a Final Match? Specifically, would the violation be classified differently as a minor violation or a major violation in those two match types?
