Informações Gerais

ENGINEERING NOTEBOOKS 

Engineering notebooks will be turned in at the check in table when you walk into the school through the main entrance. Your team and coach is expected to check in at the table and turn in an engineering notebook. Teams will be provided some confirmation & payment of those teams who ordered box lunches. We are not accepting digital notebooks, only physical notebooks so your students must print their notebooks before they arrive at the competition. Don’t forget your innovation award sheets for the competition. 

 

 All notebooks must: 

  • Be bound (no loose pages).

  • They can be printed from a document or documents

  • Be submitted at check-in no later than 8:00 AM.

  • Any notebook turned in after 8:00 AM will not be eligible for judged awards.

 

Lunches;

For teams who pre-ordered lunch. The lunch pickup will be located at the concessions stand in the atrium of the competition and the entrance to the field house. Lunch will be organized by team. I should have some sort of receipt or invoice ready for teams when they arrive. An email with a lunch invoice went out for all teams who pre-ordered lunch. If you did not receive the email from Becky Wyatt please let me know. Order by Friday October 24th.  We can accommodate walk up orders for full pizzas before 10am on the day of the event. Please coordinate with Becky Wyatt at concessions this Saturday 

 

Concessions 

We will be offering the following at our concession stand;

  1. Chips

  2. Candy 

  3. Donuts

  4. Pizza 

  5. Coffee

  6. Pop

 

 

WIFI

Rules = do not use wifi on cell phones. Only use the wifi on the cloud compiler and access code. Tell teams to disable wifi on Cell Phones or other devices it limits bandwidth into the competition space. Our cloud compiler is working on our network. Please only use Wifi for computers utilizing VEX Code softwares, Git Hub etc.

Parking

The event will be hosted by Matthew Sullivan at Lake Park High School on October 29th 2022. We are hosting the event at Lake Park High School West Campus Address: 500 W Bryn Mawr Ave, Roselle, IL 60172. Doors will open at 7:30AM. We plan to conclude the event at or before 6:30PM.

 

 

Consent / Participant Release Forms

All team participants (players, coaches, and mentors) must complete a Participant Release Form (also known as a Consent Form) online prior to the event. When completed online, the form will be applied automatically to every official REC Foundation event the team registers for during the current season.

 

Teams 

  • A friendly reminder about the Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy.

 

Rules - Go over rules with your team(s) prior to entry

  1. Turn off cell phone wifi and data in main Gym

  2. No tape in the gym or field house - Do not put tape down on anything in the fieldhouse or gym. This includes cords/wires in the field house or Gym. We will do our best to Gaffer cords to the floor. But the paint is still drying in the field house. Do not add tape to cords in the field house

  3. No Cutting in Gym or FIeld House - Cutting area will be located in the hallway north of the fieldhouse next to the cafeteria. 

  4. No Food in field house or gym -Eat & Drink in Cafeteria. Spectators can eat in the front lobby. 

  5. All robots, batteries, controllers and tools entering and leaving the south gym should get placed onto a cart and should not be dropped on the floor

  6. We just purchased brand flooring in both the fieldhouse and gym. Have your teams be respectful of the space. 

Schedule

  • 7:00 am - Doors open, check-in begins

  • 8:00 am - Inspections begin and practice matches will begin after a set of 4 robots are inspected.

  • 8:30 Check in closes Practice matches begin

  • 9:15 am - Inspections End, match schedule is run and cannot be rerun. Practice matches will conclude. All teams should report to the Main Gym.

  • 9:30 am - Drivers Meeting (Cafeteria)

  • 10:00 am - Qualification matches begin (3 qualification matches)

  • 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm: Lunch break

  • 12:30 pm - Qualification matches (4 additional qualification matches)

  • 2:45 pm -  Qualification matches end Skills field closes at the completion of the final qualifying match. 

  • 3:00 pm - Alliance Selection, Finals & Awards 

 

Skills Field will open after the Drivers meeting around 10:00 AM  and will close when Qualification matches end. Around 2:45 pm. Skills will be closed during lunch break.

 

Reminders: 

  • BRING SAFETY GLASSES 1 per team member anyone cutting or on the drive team must wear safety glasses. 

  • Running late: email Matt @ [email protected] 

  • Make sure teams are using a V5 Competition Template for code

  • We are running this through Match Controllers and VexNet. 

  • Go through inspection with your students to confirm that robots do not expand past 22 inches on either plane parallel with the field tiles. 

  • Get in line early and pass inspection. Robots must pass inspection including the initial sizes. 

  • License plates, controllers, batteries, chargers, safety glasses should be brought with each team.  

  • License Plates --- One color needs to be visible on the robot. Have both blue and red ready plates ready on both sides of the robots.

  • Bring with you the attached inspection form already filled in as much as you can so we can expedite the inspection process. 

  • Complete participation release forms online. 

  • Make sure controllers are set to 2.6 GHZ "radio" setting not bluetooth setting. 

  • Confirm that VEX V5 brain has latest firmware update = 1.1.5

Política de Emergência/Condições Climáticas Adversas

We live in Illinois. Prepare for anything but we are hoping for safe travel conditions. If conditions are not safe we will update primary contacts for any changes the day of the event or day before the event. We will also post on the General Tab if the event is canceled. 

Refund and Payment Policies

If the event partner cancels the event we will issue full refunds for registration.

If a Coach or Mentor completes registration for the LPHS event then chooses to withdraw or not attend then they are still resposible for all charges. There will be no refunds for teams who withdraw or do not attend the event. 

Formato de Julgamento

 

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
