Updated: March 20

Thank you for visiting the event page for the Japan Cup, scheduled for March 20th and 21st, 2026. This season marks the third iteration of the V5RC Japan Cup, an event designed to foster international exchange among students of similar age groups through STEM education.
Even though this will be a period when qualifying rounds for the world championships will have already concluded, international teams will be thrilled to visit Japan to interact with local teams. Meanwhile, Japanese teams will be equally excited to engage with overseas teams, sharing technical insights, ideas, competition strategies, and participating in cultural exchanges. The event welcomes all levels of expertise, so even beginners are encouraged to join.
The Japan Cup was created to offer Japanese students more opportunities for international exchange. While most countries start their academic year in September, the Japanese school year begins in April. This often causes teams to disband as students transition from elementary to middle school, or from middle school to high school, making it difficult for them to participate in world championships. Furthermore, the timing of the world championships coincides with Japan's Golden Week, a peak travel period with some of the highest travel costs of the year. These challenges have led many students and their supporters to give up on the dream of participating in the world championships before they even start.
With this in mind, we aim to create a world-class event in Japan that brings students from around the globe together, capturing the same spirit and excitement as the world championships.

Here's a look back at our previous Japan Cup:
1st edition: March 25, 2024, at Shinagawa Intercity Atrium (Minato-ku, Tokyo)
2nd edition: March 20, 2025, at Shinagawa Intercity Hall (Minato-ku, Tokyo)

To ensure a smooth and successful event, please review the following five important announcements:

1. Robot Inspection (Pre-event)

Robot inspections will begin on Friday, March 20th. Since March 20th is a setup day as well, inspections are scheduled to take place in the afternoon (14:00–15:00) after the setup is complete. Further details will be updated as they are finalized. If attending on March 20th is difficult, you may complete the inspection on the event day, but we strongly encourage teams to undergo the robot inspection the day before whenever possible.

2. Taiko Drumming Experience (Pre-event)

As part of our international exchange program, we are offering a Taiko drumming experience. This event requires a reservation, and we will accommodate as many participating teams as possible. The details will be announced in January.

3. Engineering Notebook

Judging of the Engineering Notebooks will be conducted remotely. Teams must submit their Engineering Notebooks in advance for evaluation. Please ensure your Engineering Notebook is submitted in PDF format by March 9th at 20:00 JST through your account on robotevents.com. Teams using a web-based Engineering Notebook can also submit directly from their account on RobotEvents. To allow teams to focus on the competition on the event day and to ensure fair judging, the notebooks will be reviewed prior to the event.
Please note that notebooks brought on the day of the event will be considered for team appeal but will not be subject to judging.

4. Volunteer

Each team is required to provide at least one volunteer.
Please click here to access the volunteer application form. Volunteers may include instructors, parents, relatives, friends, or siblings of team members. As the event date approaches, the event organizer will contact volunteers regarding their assigned roles.

5. Entry Fee

Participation fee is ¥30,000. Please make your payment by the specified deadline. For payment instructions, select “Payment Link” from the menu on the left side of the main page.

6. Lunch

Lunch boxes must be pre-ordered.
Lunch orders must be submitted by March 15 at 23:00 JST.
Order lunch here
Lunch boxes will be available for pickup at the venue starting at 11:00 AM.
We strongly recommend picking up your lunch before the lunch break to avoid long lines.

Please note that the lunch break is only 30 minutes.
While convenience stores and food trucks are available outside the building, options are limited and lines may be long.

7. Consent Form

Some teams have not yet submitted their consent forms. These forms include important information regarding safety, liability, image rights, and participation eligibility. All team members, including instructors, must submit the form. As parental consent is required, please ensure the forms are submitted in advance. Teams that do not submit the required forms will not be allowed to participate.

8. Travel & Accommodation Arrangements

As a group company of one of our event sponsors, Keio Travel offers support for teams requiring customized travel or hotel arrangements. Teams are welcome to contact Keio Travel directly. A dedicated representative will provide proposals based on room availability and rates at the time of inquiry.
