The Event

We are excited to announce a middle school-only robotics tournament! Our intention is to provide a fun, competitive, and age-appropriate experience exclusively for middle school teams.

In order to keep it that way, we’ve been given a team minimum that must be met. If we reach that number, this will remain a middle school-only event, with no high school participation.

However, if we do not meet the threshold, we may need to open registration to high school teams roughly one month before the event.  If that happens, we ask that any high school teams who have already qualified for state please do not register. This will help us maintain a balanced and meaningful experience for all teams involved.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to create a tournament that is enjoyable and competitive for everyone.

Registration Information

All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.

We will be doing in person physical notebooks

Lunch and Concessions

Full concessions will be available from 9 am to 3 pm.

Finals Matches

Up to 24 teams will participate in Finals matches. 

Competition Preparation

All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

 

Review all game information:

1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX V5 parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the V5  Robot Inspection Checklist

2. Check the official VEX forums , Q&A  and The Game Manual for rule updates and changes.

3. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on robotevents.com

4. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.

   • Spare parts & tools

   • Batteries and chargers

   • Power strip and extension cord

   • Saftey Glasses

   • Laptop computer

   • Programming cable

   • Banners and other decorations for your team pit table

   • Giveaways if you have them

5. Be sure to read VEX Tournaments 101.

6. Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament.

7. Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judge's Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

8. Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.

9. Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your IQ Brain.

Participation and Consent Form

1. Obtain the team’s program and team number/letter from the coach. Examples: Program: V5RC, Team number/letter: 404C; or Program: Aerial Drone Competition, Team number/letter: 2468D.
2. In a browser window, navigate to the REC Foundation Smartwaiver form. Alternatively, navigate to the Spanish language version.
3. Follow all onscreen instructions and complete the form. Note: Be sure to select the correct program and to enter the EXACT team number/letter (or, for VURC, letter/number) without additional spaces or characters. (Not acceptable: '404 C',  '404', '404C ',  or  '404A/404B').
4. If a mentor, coach, or parent volunteer needs to complete a form for more than one team, the form should be submitted separately for each team. In other words, only one team number/letter can be on each form.
