General Info

League days (except the final day) are hosted at Keaau High School after the school day ends. Please do not show up before 3pm.

Days at Keaau High School will be held in E-building from approximately 3pm-6pm. Matches will be held in the robotics lab. Pit areas will be in the science lab across the hall. E-building is the building directly to the right of the cafeteria when you are at the main entrance of the cafeteria facing the gym.

League Finals will be on Saturday December 13th. Venue for finals is TBD, but is likely to be somewhere in Hilo, from ~7am to 4pm.

Parking is in the parking lot behind the gym, or by A-building (Main Office). Please do not park on firelanes, or on grass next to any buildings.

LATE Arrivals

Teams must be checked in 45 minutes prior to the start of the qualification matches so that the match schedule may be printed. Teams must contact the event partner if they are running late or they will be removed from the team list for the event.

What to Expect

We are hosting the Big Island East league in a different (smaller) space this year. Please register for the scrimmage on September 19th so you can familiarize yourself with the new space prior to the league starting.

Skills will be offered at league finals ONLY.

Judging will be conducted at league finals ONLY.

  • Good sportsmanship, which includes supporting your alliance partners

These expectations apply to all team members and all adults associated with a team including, but not limited to, teachers, mentors and parents.

Agenda

League Finals

League finals will be held at the Discovery Center in downtown hilo. Tentative agenda is:

  1. 8:00 AM - venue opens to teams, check-in and inspections begin
  2. 9:30 AM - Drivers meeting
  3. 9:45 AM - Qual Matches Begin, Skills Field Opens
  4. 12:00 PM - Qual Matches End, Alliance selection
  5. 12:30 PM - 30 Minute Lunch Break
  6. 1:00 PM - Skills Closes
  7. 1:15 PM - Finals Matches
  8. 4:00 PM - Closing, Awards, Cleanup

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Specific event days will be cancelled in the event of emergency weather conditions. Teams will be notified by the event partner the day prior to the event if there is a need to cancel. Please make sure your team contact info is up to date in your RobotEvents.com account, and includes both school and non-school phone numbers.

Cancelled event days may be rescheduled if necessary to maintain league qualification status.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the event partner cancels the event a full refund will be given (minus any incurred processing fees).

Once payment is received, no refunds will be given for teams that withdraw or do not attend.

Full payment is due by the first ranking session or the team may be dropped from the event.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
