General Info
Welcome teams! We are excited for you to attend the 2026 Arizona High School State Championship! Please note, this is a 2-day event. Please check the agenda tab for more information.
Qualifying for The 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship
The championship event will award Ten teams with an invitation to the 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship:
If a team double‑qualifies, the extra spot will be awarded to the next unqualified high‑school team ranked highest in the Robot Skills Challenge at the 2026 Arizona VRC HS State Championship. These do not include scores posted before the state championship. See the official Qualifying Criteria for more details.

Digital Engineering Notebooks are required! Notebooks will be judged remotely and must be submitted February 22,2026.
Invitation & Registration
Invitations will be sent via email through RobotEvents.

Important – Field Control & Firmware
To ensure smooth matches:

Update all VEX V5 brains to the latest firmware.

Upload your team number to each brain.

The match fields will be run using the Smart Field Control system.
Teams will be asked to confirm these updates during inspection.
Concessions will be offered at this event, and we encourage you to take advantage of the food, drink, and snacks throughout the day. For your convenience, teams will also be allowed to bring food into designated areas. Food and drink are not allowed in the gym or pits. Thank you for your cooperation.
Competition Preparation
This event is sure to be fast-paced and exciting. All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.
- Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. The inspection checklist can be found on the Documents tab.
- Check the official game manual and Q&As at robotevents.com for rule updates and changes.
- Carefully read all of the information contained on this webpage and emails sent to participants/
- Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.
• Glasses
• Spare parts & tools
• Batteries, chargers, and a power strip
• Micro USB cable
• Laptop computer
• Engineering notebook
• Banners and other decorations for your team pit
• Giveaways if you have them - Ensure your robot brain has the latest version of the firmware.
- Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards being presented during the tournament.
- Prep for your interviews with the judges. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.
Participation and Consent Form
Consent forms are required for all students, mentors, and coaches on VRC teams. Consent forms are now done online, one time, and are good for the entire season at all REC-run events.

Teams who help set up the event will be allowed to practice on the official competition and skills fields on Thursday.
Friday:
• 10:00am: Doors open
• 10:15am: Volunteer Meeting in gym atrium
• 10:30am: Inspection begins, skills matches begin
• 12:30pm: Coaches meeting in gym atrium
• 1:30pm: Inspection deadline, skills matches pause
• 1:45pm: Opening ceremony and event meeting
• 2:30pm: Qualification matches begin, skills matches resume
• 6:00pm: Qualifications matches pause, skills matches pause
• 6:15pm: Venue closes
Saturday:
• 7:30am: Doors open
• 7:45am: Volunteer meeting for new volunteers in gym atrium
• 8:15am: Recap meeting
• 8:30am: Qualification matches resume, skills matches resume
• 12:00pm: Lunch, skills line cut off for the event and qualification matches pause
• 1:00pm: Qualification matches resume
• 2:45pm: Qualification end for the event
• 3:00pm: Alliance selection
• 3:30pm: Elimination matches start and awards ceremony

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
As we are in Arizona, it is extremely unlikely the event will be cancelled due to weather. If an emergency occurs, we will notify everyone registered the tournament is cancelled.
Refund and Payment Policies
Payments
Lack of payment by teams by March 4, will result in the teams being moved to the waitlist.
Submitting a PO counts as payment.
Refunds
No refund will be given

This event will be livestreamed on 18x18az's YouTube channel.
Judging Format
Team interviews will be conducted in person at the Event.
