The V5RC Middle School Alberta Provincial Championship tournament event will be held in the main atrium at STEM Innovation Academy High School, in Calgary.

You are on the event page for the Middle School event, but please be aware that this event will be run in parallel with a High School event. The middle school event capacity is 16 teams and will have one competition field, at least one skills field, and at least one practice field.  

Event Features:

  • Seating area and balcony will be available for spectators to view the fields.
  • Classrooms will be used as team pit areas.
  • The event will be live streamed. Please go the Webcast tab on event day fo find the link.
  • All teams are scheduled to have 8 qualification matches.
  • Elimination rounds will consist of 8 alliances of 2 teams.
  • Skills and Judging will be available on a queuing system up until the end of the qualification round

Friday, February 27, 2026

  • 5:00pm - Doors, Check-In, Pit Areas, & Inspection opens
  • 6:00 to 8:00pm - Skills and Practice Fields open
  • 8:00pm - Venue closes

Saturday, February 28, 2026

  • 7:00 am - Doors, Check-In, Pit Areas, & Inspection opens
  • 9:00 am - Inspection closes, Opening Ceremony and Driver Meeting begins
  • 9:30 am - Judging and Skills Open
  • 10:30 am - Judging Closes and Qualification Begins
  • noon - Lunch break
  • 12:45 pm - Qualifications and Skills resume
  • Qualifications Finish. Skills closes at the end of the last qualification match
  • 4:00 pm - Alliance selection starts
  • 5:30 pm - Elimination Round Begins
  • 7:00 pm - Closing Ceremony, Awards, & Cleanup
  • 8:00 pm - Venue closes

Please note, judging for Middle School Teams is only open from 9:30am to 10:30am. All teams that wish to complete judging must do so at this time.

Volunteer

Interested in joining the team?  We are always looking for volunteers to join the crew to help in the following areas:

  • Friday setup
  • Skills score keeping, field reset, and match queuing.
  • Saturday evening and/or Sunday morning clean up.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event that the venue is closed, the tournament will be cancelled or postponed to a later date. Refunds will be processed after the fees of hosting the event have been paid.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: Refunds will be given 

 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: Refunds will be given if the spot is filled by another team. Refunds will not be given if the spot is not filled by another team.

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. The submission deadline for digital notebooks will be 7 days before the event, which is 5:00 PM MST, February 20, 2026. Any notebook entries after this date will not be considered by the judges.
