Molokai Robotics VEX V5 Push Back Live Remote Skills Event #2

Event Format

  • Live Remote Skills Event

  • Teams connect via Zoom

  • Official Driver Skills & Programming Skills attempts

  • Real-time scoring

Platform

  • Zoom (link emailed to registered teams)

  • Backup communication: Event Discord/Email (provided in confirmation email)

Field & Camera Requirements

Teams must show:
- Entire field view
- Robot and controller
- Timer display
- Stable, continuous video feed

Multiple camera setups encouraged but not required.

Attempts

  • Up to 3 Driver Skills runs

  • Up to 3 Programming Skills runs

  • 1-minute timer per run

  • Best score in each category counts

Inspection

All teams must pass remote inspection prior to competing:

  • VRC robot size check (18″ cube)

  • Legal electronics/parts

  • Firmware updated

  • Field setup verified

Field Specifics

  • VEX Push-Back field layout per official game manual

  • Scoring reviewed visually after each run by head referee

Queueing

  • Teams must be present and ready when called

  • Missed queue spot may result in forfeiting that attempt slot

  • None

All participants must follow the REC Foundation Code of Conduct:

  • Professionalism

  • Respect

  • Safe and positive communication

  • No outside assistance during attempts

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If the event is canceled due to bad weather/emergencies beyond the event partners control, the event partner will attempt to re-schedule (no refunds as the event is free). Teams should make sure their contact information is up to date and includes both school and non-school phone numbers.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event:

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

No refunds as the event is free.

Health and Safety Policies

General Safety

  • All participants must follow event staff instructions and venue rules

  • Maintain a clear and safe workspace around robots and computers

  • Cables and chargers must be secured to avoid tripping hazards

  • Store tools in designated areas only

  • No running or horseplay in the event space

 

Robot & Equipment Safety

  • All robots must pass inspection before operating

  • Teams may only power robots when on the field or at a safe pit station

  • No testing in hallways or common walkways

  • Do not work on electrical systems with batteries connected

  • Damaged batteries must be reported to staff immediately

 

Electrical & Battery Safety

  • Use only VEX-approved chargers and batteries

  • Batteries should not be left charging unsupervised

  • Inspect batteries for swelling and damage before use

  • Place batteries on a non-flammable surface during charging

  • If a battery becomes hot or swollen, disconnect and notify staff immediately

 

Venue Conduct & Behavior

  • Respect others — no abusive language or harassment

  • Keep noise low to ensure a professional remote broadcast environment

  • Follow REC Foundation Code of Conduct

  • Food and drinks allowed only in approved areas — not near electronics or fields

 

Emergency Procedures

  • Event staff will announce emergency exits and meeting points before matches

  • In the event of evacuation:
    Remain calm • Follow staff instructions • Exit in an orderly manner

  • First-aid kit and emergency contact information available at event desk

  • Report any injury immediately, no matter how minor

 

Virtual Participation Safety

(For remote teams joining event stream)

  • Student cameras should face robot/field only

  • No student personal information shown on stream

  • Only approved streaming software and links used
