General Info

Welcome to the Northstar Robot Rally VEX IQ Challenge. We look forward to having you join us for a great day!  This tournament is for Elementary and Middle School and designed to meet the needs of emerging teams.

Registration Information:  All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.

Engineering Notebooks: There are no judging events, so engineering notebooks will not be collected.

Waiting List:  If this event is full, please feel free to add your team to the Waiting List and then contact the Event Partner (Primary Contact on the General Info tab). The Event Partner will let you know about possible openings for the event. If you are moved from the Waiting List to the Registered Teams List, please be prepared to pay for the event promptly at your robotevents.com account.

Competition Preparation:  Review all game information: Current Game Webpage

  1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the VIQRC Robot Inspection Checklist

  2. Check the official VEX forums for rule updates and changes.

  3. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on robotevents.com

  4. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.

    • Goggles/Safety Glasses

    • Spare parts & tools

    • Batteries and chargers

    • Power strip and extension cord

    • Laptop computer

    • Programming cable

    • Banners and other decorations for your team pit table

  5. Be sure to read VEX Tournaments 101

  6. Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament.

  7. Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your Robot Brain.

Participation and Consent Form: A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament. The top 16 teams WILL participate in the finals. The number of finals matches may be expanded if there is an even number of total teams in the tournament.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In case of bad weather this event may be cancelled.  Teams are advised to watch robotevents.com for weather related updates.   If the tournament must be cancelled or postponed, the name of the tournament will change to cancelled or postponed.  In the event of a cancellation or postponement, teams will be sent additional information via email.  In the event of a cancellation, the registration fee will not be refunded. 

Refund and Payment Policies

In the unlikely event that the event should cancel, there will be no refunds given.

If a coach withdraws their team from the event, no refunds will be given.
