General Info

This event is an unofficial scrimmage hosted in partnership with the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (REC Foundation) for teams competing in the VEX Robotics program using the VEX IQ system.

Event Format

  • 22 Team Capacity
  • 2 Qualification Fields
  • Dedicated Robot
  • Approximately 4 Qualification Matches per Team
  • Finals: Top-ranked alliances compete

This is a one-day tournament designed to conclude by approximately 1:30 PM.

Tentative Schedule

  • Doors Open: 7:30 AM
  • Inspection Deadline: 8:30 AM
  • Drivers’ Meeting: 8:40 AM
  • Opening Ceremony: 8:55 AM
  • Qualification Matches Begin: 9:00 AM
  • Finals & Awards: Early Afternoon
  • Event Concludes: 1:15–1:30 PM

Tentaive Schedule

7:30 AM – Doors Open for Volunteers

  • Volunteer check-in & training

7:45 – Doors open for teams

  • Team check-in
  • Robot inspections begin
  • Pit setup
  • Practice fields open
    • Please share the fields equally
    • Limit your time to 10 minutes if other teams are waiting
    • If a team cues up and you have been on the field longer than 10 minutes please give up your spot

8:15 AM – Inspection Deadline

  • All teams must be inspected to compete
  • Skills Challenge opens

8:45 AM – Drivers’ Meeting (Students & Coaches)

  • Event overview
  • Match flow procedures
  • Field assignments
  • Judging overview
  • Sportsmanship expectations

8:45 AM – Opening Ceremony

  • Welcome
  • Game overview
  • Event reminders
  • Introduce judges & thanking volunteers

9:00 AM – Qualification Matches Begin (Fields A & B)

  • Matches run simultaneously on both fields
  • ~2 minutes per match cycle (run + reset)
  • 15 rounds per field (30 total matches)
  • Judging interviews happening in pits or judging room
  • Remaining qualification matches run until completed
  • Skills Challenge final attempts
  • Judging concludes

11:00 AM – Qualification Matches End

  • Snacks and Drinks will be available for teams but no lunches will be provided at this tournament
  • Rankings finalized
  • Judges deliberate
  • Fields reset for Finals

11:30 AM – Finals Matches

  • Top alliances compete (typically top 4 alliances)
  • Best-of-three format (or 3–5 matches total)

12:00 PM – Awards Ceremony

Thank you for volunteering to support our 40-Team VEX IQ Robotics Tournament! Your time and leadership help create a high-quality, inspiring STEM experience for students. Below is important information to help you prepare for the event.

 

Event Details

Volunteer Check-In: 7:15 AM
Volunteer Meeting: 7:30 AM (Required)
Doors Open to Teams: 7:30 AM
Qualification Matches Begin: 9:00 AM
Estimated End Time: 2:15–2:30 PM

Please arrive on time to allow for orientation and role assignment.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of bad weather the event partner will reach out and 24 hours prior to the event. This event may be rescheduled

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: The event will potentially rescheeduled at a later date.

 

 

 

Judging Format

 

This event will include voluntary In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges
