This is a blended event (HS and MS together), so the VRC Qualifying Criteria document on page 4 will determine the number of Excellence Awards.
We are planning in-person interviews; please bring a printed version of your Engineering notebook.

The event will be held in the Gymnasium or mini gym (tbd). Teams should park in the student parking lot. Building three is located straight and to the right of the student parking lot. Spectators are welcome.
Doors open at 7:30 a.m. The event is in the gymnasium of Gilbert High School.
Health and Safety Policies
Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, health and safety policies are subject to change. Please check the "Health and Safety Policies" tab for current policies and more information. Masks are optional.
Concessions
Concessions will be offered at this event and we encourage you to take advantage of the food, drink, and snacks throughout the day. Teams can also bring food into the building for your convenience. An eating area will be set up so that people are not eating in the gym.
Competition Preparation
This event is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting event. All teams should come prepared for the competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.
- Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. The inspection checklist can be found on the Documents tab.
- Check the official game manual and Q&As at robotevents.com for rule updates and changes.
- Carefully read all of the information contained on this webpage and emails sent to participants.
- Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.
• Safety Glasses
• Spare parts & tools
• Batteries, chargers, and a power strip
• Micro USB cable
• Laptop computer
• Engineering notebook
• Banners and other decorations for your team pit
• Giveaways if you have them - Ensure your robot brain has the latest version of the firmware.
- Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards being given during the tournament.
- Prepare for your interviews with the judges. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.
Participation and Consent Form
Consent forms are required for all students, mentors, and coaches on a VRC team. Consent forms are now done online one time and are suitable for the entire season at all REC-run events. Please be sure to complete the online https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/5ab2c50d92047/web/.

Judging Format
- All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
