Petition to relax the rule.
[Current] Rule <R7> Section e. An unlimited amount of rope / string, no thicker than 1/4” (6.35mm).
Can this be relaxed to include fishing line, which does not have the disadvantage of "elasticity" that rope does. Probably rolls up better than rope on a spindle, but can't (yet) prove it.
(ultra strong) fishing line is commonly available, and approximate the same price as many ropes. spiderwire ultracast x8 is a good example. Image of packaging (maybe): ![[Example Image]](https://events.vex.com/storage/markdown/uploads/XeRHQK0XVdX5qiVmiPubx76kgYck1YO7Zoh81uNr.jpg)
I envision two common uses: 1) two fixed cables, for "X" bracing and 2) use with Vex Winch and pulley (276-1546) (https://www.vexrobotics.com/276-1546.html)
If interested in the technology, it is well described here: https://www.purefishing.com/spiderwire-pro-tips-spiderwire-born-from-the-worlds-strongest-fiber
