2642: SG10: Enclosed Sections of Goals
<SG10> “Don’t reach inside enclosed sections of Goals. Robots are not permitted to directly affect the positions of Blocks that are within enclosed sections of Goals, but may add or remove Blocks from open sections of Goals at any time during a Match.” Definition of Goal - “A Field Element that is constructed out of plastic and metal components into which Blocks can be Scored. Each Long Goal has a completely enclosed center section between two open sections. Each Goal includes a defined Control Zone.”
SG10 mentions that robots are not allowed to reach inside enclosed sections of Goals, but the rule is not super clear about what counts as an enclosed section.
The definition of a Goal tells us that the Long Goal has a 13” enclosed center section and that everything else on the Goal is open. Does this mean that the 13” enclosed center section of the Long Goal is the only enclosed section on any goal and that both the Upper and Lower Center Goals are completely open?
- Is the 13” enclosed section of the Long Goal the only enclosed section of any goal, and therefore the only section protected by SG10? In other words, are robots allowed to reach into and directly affect Block positions in both the Upper and Lower Center Goals because they are considered open?
