2647: SG7 and GG16 Clarification
<SG7>eii states that contact with blocks that begins on the other side of the autonomous line is a violation. <GG18> states that if a rule is violated through the use of a block instead of a Robot mechanism, the it should be evaluated as if a Robot mechanism
<GG16> states Intentional strategies that cause an opponent to break a rule are not permitted, and will not result in a Violation for the opposing Alliance.
In the following situation scenarios would the red alliance be in violation of <SG7> due to forcing their opponent into a penalty, or would the blue alliance be in violation due to contact with a block that started on the other side of the autonomous line:
- A red alliance robot moves go to the long goal and attempts to score its a block that started on its side of the field, the robot applies significant force and causes the block to fly through the goal and fall out onto the other side. Afterwards a blue alliance robot drives into said block.
- A red alliance robot goes up to the auto line and deposits a large number of blocks onto the opposing side of the field, which are then driven into by a blue alliance robot
Scenario 1 describes standard gameplay, and neither Team should receive a Violation.
Scenario 2 describes an action that should be considered a Violation of <SG7> by the red Alliance Robot (the one that deposits Blocks on the opposite side of the Autonomous Line). This would be considered a deliberate defensive autonomous strategy as described in clause B, and would at minimum make the red Alliance ineligible for an AWP and any portion of the Autonomous Bonus. As described in clause B, the red Alliance could also receive a Major Violation and DQ for the intentional Violation at the Head Referee's discretion.
