Official Q&A: VEX V5 Robotics Competition 2025-2026: Push Back
2694: Should GG13 apply to inconsequential, non-gameplay violations?
Hello!
As per GG13, All rules still apply in the Autonomous Period and specifically
Any violations, major or minor, committed during the Autonomous Period will result in the Autonomous Bonus being automatically awarded to the opposing Alliance and make the violating Team's Alliance ineligible for the AWP
Should this be treated the same for inconsequential, non-gameplay violations like described below?
Scenario 1: A team thinks they ar about to win the autonomous period and begins to celebrate and cheer, whilst doing so multiple drive team members brake the plane of the field as their hands cross deep into the field past the perimeter as they excitingly point to scoring objects. (GG4b)
Scenario 2: A drive team member takes their safety glasses off for a brief period of the autonomous period, or habitually places them on their head (S4)
Scenario 3: A drive-team member has a phone in their pocket and a loud notification sound goes off. They take their phone out their pocket and place it in aeroplane mode (GG1)
The current wording of GG13 implies that all these scenarios will result in the autonomous bonus being awarded to the opposing alliance, would the 4th dot point of G3 (benefit of the doubt), or G3 in general provide any additional nuance to the scope of GG13, or is it cut and dry that any rule violation can lead to the auton being lost and AWP forfeited?
Thank you! Hope you have had a pleasant start to the season!
Should this be treated the same for inconsequential, non-gameplay violations like described below?
Yes. Rules are rules, and all are meant to be followed as written. There are no exemptions to GG13, other than the edge can described in clause B of <SG8> when Robots from opposing Alliances are engaged with the same Block on the Autonomous Line.
Any Violation (major or minor) that is noted by the Head Referee, including all three of your scenarios, should result in the loss of the Autonomous Win Point and Autonomous Bonus.
