2937: Legality of Switching Controllers Between Alliances.

Daniel Bragg
22-Nov-2025

123A and 321A are on the same alliance during a match. During the driver control period, a drive team member from 123A is handed a controller for 321A's robot.

  1. Can alliances intentionally swap controllers with their alliance partner during the driver control period?
  2. If no, which rules would apply in this scenario?

Thank you for your time.

Alliance Partners cannot legally operate each other's Robots during a Match.

Swapping controllers as you've described would result in Students serving as Drive Team Members for multiple Teams during an event, or a Team borrowing a Driver from another Team, which are Violations of rule <G5>.
