3071: Size compliance check at the field

Could you please clarify this practice: teams arrive at the field, and one team requests the head referee to perform a size compliance check on an opposing team before the match begins. The head referee of course has the ability to call for spot inspection, but I am wondering if there is any supporting documentation in the game manual allowing teams to request a spot inspection.

I could not find anything on the game manual to support this practice. Thanks for considering this question.

A Head Referee can "spot check" Robots for size and/or compliance with any other Robot rules at their discretion and at any time. While a Team may request or suggest that a Head Referee check a Robot's size before a Match, the Head Referee is not obligated to do so. If time allows and the Head Referee does agree to the size check, it would be reasonable for them to check the sizes of all Robots in the Match.
