LAUSD East VEX IQ ES League at Frank Del Olmo Elementary School

General Info

This league is primarily for teams from schools in LAUSD Region East. Teams from schools in other LAUSD Regions may participate if space is available. Teams are only allowed to participate in one LAUSD league.

Registration: This league is an Invitational event. Instead of the normal registration process, please add your team(s) to the Waitlist in the menu above or to the left of this section. When an Event Administrator moves your team(s) to the Registered Teams list, your team(s) will have the same status as if you had registered your team(s) and chosen Pay Later as your Payment Method.

Payment: All registration fee payments by LAUSD school sites must be paid online only using the P-card. League registration fees are $195 per team. Please note, all league fees should be paid prior to the first league session. 

Others who prefer to pay by check can bring your league registration fee check for $195 per team to the first league session. Please make your check payable to Frank Del Olmo Elementary School.

Forms: Before your first league session, please upload a Participant Release Form for each student and adult team member for each team. Team members who change teams should upload a Participant Release Form for their new team. Adult team members of multiple teams should upload a Participant Release Form for each team. Be careful to delete any hyphens that appear by default in the name fields.

Remote Judging: Teams will be invited to submit Digital Engineering Notebooks online and to schedule Remote Judging Team Interviews by Monday, December 21, 2026, the first day of Winter Recess. Remote Judging Team Interviews will be held in January before the final league session. Details will be sent to registered teams via email and posted on the Judging Format tab by November 30, 2026.

Volunteers: Teams may need to provide at least one volunteer for at least one session or as a remote judge for engineering notebooks or team interviews. If we do not have enough volunteers, we may not be able to complete all scheduled matches or remote judging. Judges never evaluate or discuss teams with which they are affiliated. Venue: This league will be meeting in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) at Frank Del Olmo Elementary School, 100 N New Hampshire Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90004. Parking is available in the gated parking garage on the north side of 1st St between N Vermont Ave and N New Hampshire Ave. Auxiliary parking is available in the gated parking lot on the south side of 1st Street west of Bimini Pl. We will have two competition fields and two practice fields at each session.

Check In and Inspection: Team Check-in and Robot Inspection start at 4:00 PM. Teams need to check in by 9:30 AM and robots need to pass inspection by 4:45 PM to be included in the Teamwork Challenge match schedule.

At Team Check In for the first league session, teams turn in league registration fee checks, verify that they have uploaded Participant Release Forms for all team members, and sign up to provide one volunteer for at least one league session or remote judging.

League Sessions:  At the three Qualifying Sessions, each team will be scheduled in four Teamwork Challenge Qualifying Matches.

At the final Championship session in January, teams participate in up to three Driving Skills Matches and up to three Autonomous Coding Skills Matches. Robot Skills Challenge Matches are not scheduled. Judges may also request follow-up interviews with some teams. The Championship session concludes with Teamwork Challenge Finals Matches and Awards.

Awards: Awards are posted on the Awards tab. Conference Championship qualifying awards should indicated in November.

Concessions: Food and beverages may be available for purchase.
