2172: Lubrication for Controllers
The game manual <R5> prohibits grease, oil, graphite, and/or any other lubricant or plastic additive
Does this include the controllers themselves as well? We have one controller that, as my son says, is "janky" and one of the sticks doesn't move smoothly. Before we open it up and try to fix it, we wanted to confirm that this is not against the intention or spirit of <R5>. This would only apply to the drive controller and not to any part of the robot on the field.
Rule <R5> prohibits lubricants for any use in the VEX IQ Robotics Competition. Additionally, rule <R15> prohibits modification of parts, which would include changing the performance of a controller by applying lubricant.
