3085: Ending an autonomous coding skills match by pressing a button on the robot brain
At our tournament today, we had a team stop their autonomous program by pressing a button on the robot brain, so that the robot came to rest while touching two pins. This was done as part of the team's strategy.
Per RSC5a:
Upon handling the Robot, it must be immediately brought back to a legal starting position. The Robot does not get a new Preload Pin during this reset.
Does pressing a button on the robot brain constitute "handling" the robot, therefore meaning they need to bring it back to a legal starting position and remove any controlled scoring objects? If so, this would mean that their strategy of stopping the robot while it is touching two pins wouldn't work as they intended.
Pressing a button on the Robot brain counts as handling the Robot, and the Robot would need to be returned to a legal starting position with any controlled Scoring Objects removed.
The Team in your example would not receive points for ending the Match in contact with these Scoring Objects.
