Are Brass Inserts legal under <VUR8>

<VUR8> states that "Teams may use... any commercially available nut, washer, or spacer to fit [previously listed screws]"

Given that nut isn't further defined in the manual, would brass inserts be legal? under the dictionary definition of nut, it says "a small flat piece of metal or other material, typically square or hexagonal, with a threaded hole through it for screwing on to a bolt as a fastener.", Would a brass insert not fit this description?

Another Distinction to be noted is that as compared to the VRC based rules, which give an addendum that it must be functionally identical, there isn't an addendum that states so within the vexu section.

The intention in mind is with placing a brass insert within a 3d printed part, for better structural integrity of connecting the 3d printed part with other pieces.

If the issue is with having the equivalent of a larger screw through external threading on the insert, would a heat-set or press fit insert work, given that there's no external threading?
