This Q&A is now read-only
Official Q&A: VEX U Robotics Competition 2025-2026: Push Back
2886: VUR4: Surgical Tubing
<VUR4> “Fabricated Parts must be made from legal Raw Stock. To be considered Raw Stock, the material must be obtained in one of the following forms before undergoing the fabrication processes listed in <VUR3>: … Solid Rod, Hollow Rod / Tube…”
According to VUR4, hollow rod is legal raw stock. Since surgical tubing (when not used as a spring) fits into this hollow rod profile, it seems like surgical tubing should always be legal (if not as a spring, then as a raw stock profile). However, a recent Q&A bubble under <VUR4> was added for Q&A 2805. It mentions that o-rings are not legal, which was determined in that Q&A, but it also mentions that surgical tubing is not a legal raw material and isn’t legal for use. The mentioned Q&A only references surgical tubing when stating that it is a legal raw stock profile. The answer to that Q&A never states that surgical tubing is not a legal raw stock. Is this a mistake in the updated game manual, or is surgical tubing now not a legal raw stock?
- Is surgical tubing a legal raw stock as a hollow rod?
Thanks for your question, CBU1. We have revised our answer to Q&A 2805 to replace "The parts in question" with "Round Belts", and we appreciate your help in improving that answer. Surgical tubing is a legal raw stock as a hollow rod.
We'll revise that Q&A listing in the December 4 update to reflect the change.
