General Info

Welcome to the Saudi Games - VEX U Robotics Competition!

The Saudi Games VEX U Robotics Competition for College (Adult division of the Saudi Games) will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.  Participants this year will design robots for the High Stakes Game; details can be found here:  https://www.vexrobotics.com/v5/competition/vrc-current-game

This event is open to Saudi Games—Adult Division students registered for the 2024 – 2025 season.

Skills Challenges will be available to all teams, with 3 Max Driver and 3 Max Autonomous Coding attempts per team

Competition Preparation

This event is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting event! All teams should come prepared for the competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are ready:

  4. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on RobotEvents.com
  5. Pack for the event the day before your departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.
    1. Spare parts & tools
    2. Batteries and chargers
    3. Programming cable
    4. Power strip
    5. Laptop computer
    6. Engineering notebook.
  6. Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards being given during the tournament.
  7. Prep for your interviews with the judges. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.
  8. Remember that safety comes first; please only bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team or others nearby, as the venue is a very tight fit.

IMPORTANT! If you are going to be late, call the Event Manager on the day of the event. If your team is not there to check in on time and no communication has been made, the match schedule will be run without your team, and they cannot compete.

Team Judging will be held in the pit area. Teams will be visited at the end of the judging period if a team has yet to arrive by 10:00 am when judging begins.  Please make yourselves available to the judges when they appear at your Pit table. If you have a match upcoming shortly or are running skills, respectfully inform the judges and agree on a time to meet with them at your pit table.

Volunteer

The Saudi Games, VEX Robotics Competition, is a fully volunteer-run event in collaboration with the Saudi Federation for Robotics and RC Sports and the Saudi Games. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is well-known for its strong volunteering culture; everyone is welcome to help make this a unique experience for all participants and attendees.

Experience is optional for many volunteering positions. Some positions can be split between two adults for a morning and afternoon shift. Depending on the role, you can volunteer for a whole day. Lunch will be provided for all-day volunteers.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Teams will need to use their best judgment on safe travel and follow the authority’s guidance on travel in extreme weather conditions.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

The event is free of charge. No Refund is required.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event and then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

Teams must inform the Saudi Federation for Robotics and RC Sports of their withdrawal ten days before the event. Please note that late withdrawals may affect the event's planning and other participating teams, so we urge you to be considerate in this matter.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
