* Skill challenges—each team will be allowed four attempts at skill challenges. Teams will decide how they use their allotted attempts between the two skill challenges, for example, two programming and two robot, three programming and one robot, or all four robot. Keep in mind, the Excellence Award is based on team rankings in both programming and robot skill challenges. Time allotted for skill challenges will be divided into the following four time intervals:
• 10:00 – 10:50 am
• 10:50 – 11:40 am
• 11:40 am – 1:30 pm (noon – 1:00 is lunch)
• 1:30 – 2:20 pm
Teams will need to use their first allotted skills challenge within the first time period or risk losing it. This will continue for each time interval. Teams are permitted to complete more than one skills challenge during the first, second, or third time interval as long as the return to the end of the line after each attempt. This rule is to minimize bottle necks at the skills field at the end of the event.
** Judging—teams will be judged on the Design Award and on the STEM Research Project Award. It is the responsibility of each team to seek out the judges during the allotted time. The Design Award and Stem Research Project Award are factored into the overall Excellence Award.
NOTE: Schedule—it is difficult to determine the amount of time each portion of the event will take, as a result, we will follow the order of events and hope our time estimates are close.
