Competition Preparation This event is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting event. All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.
1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. The inspection checklist can be found on the documents page.
2. Read the document 120 Things to do before your first VEX Tournament found on the Document Page.
3. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure.
Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.
Spare parts & tools
Batteries and chargers
Programming cable
Power strip & extension cord
Laptop computer
Engineering notebook (if you have one, REQUIRED for Design and Excellence Awards )
Banners and other decorations for your team pit
Giveaways if you have them
4. Understand how the game will be played. VEX participants should thoroughly read the game rules. Additional rulings and interpretations of the game rules can be found on the Offical VEX Forum.
5. Participation and Consent Form - A completed form for all participants must be turned in during check-in. Team leaders will need to collect the completed forms for all team members attending the event and turn them into the registration desk when checking in. The Consent & Waiver Form can be found on the documents page.
State Qualifying Spot Assignments for Wisconsin Events:
| Blended | Middle | Elementary | |
| Teams | VEX IQ | Only | Only |
| 16 | 6 | 6 | 8 |
| 24 | 8 | 6 | 8 |
| 32+ | 9 | 6 | 8 |
If 10 or more teams are registered at each level of a Blended event (Elementary School and Middle School) the Excellence Award must be offered at each level. The total number of state qualifying spots will remain the same.
If the STEM Research Award is not given at the event, the total number of qualifying spots is reduced by one from the table above.
State Qualifying Spots are initially assigned based on the capacity of the event. After registration closes, and before the event, spots will be adjusted to reflect the number of teams registered for the event according to the table above. Qualifying Spots are assigned by the REC Foundation. The assignments are calculated based on the number of spots available for State Championship, the number and size of qualifying events in the State, and the historical double-qualification rates for the State. Questions on State Qualifying spot assignments may be directed to your REC Foundation Regional Support Manager Bill Ryno by email at [email protected].
