General Info
Welcome to our event!
There is no food in the area, so plan to bring your own snacks and water. There is plenty of parking in the main lot, and please do not park on the curb.
Some important points for participants:
- We will have practice fields available for teams. All practice fields will be open to all teams on a first-come, first-served basis, and time on the practice fields will be limited to insure that everyone can have a turn. Teams MAY NOT set up their own fields in the pit areas.
- If you would like to bring a competition field, please send an email to [email protected]. DO NOT BRING A FIELD IF YOU HAVE NOT CONTACTED MR. TYLER. We need several fields with game kits to make this event successful, so please let us know if you can bring one. All fields will be open for use (either as Teamwork, Programming, or practice fields) by any team. NO EXCLUSIVE FIELDS. We encourage you to do your testing before the tournament.
- Student-centered team behavior is expected in all aspects of the VEX IQ season and events. Adults that are using the practice field to design the step-by-step strategies (i.e. telling the students exactly what to do) for upcoming matches are not consistent with the student-centered policy.
See you in January!
VEX IQ Qualifying Event
This VEX IQ event is a qualifying event to the Washington VEX IQ State Championships and is open to all registered VEX IQ teams.
The following awards will qualify to the Washington State Championship:
(1) - Excellence
(2) - Teamwork Champions
(1) - Design
If (10) Middle School and (10) Elementary School VEX IQ teams register for this event, then a second Excellence Award will be added. One (1) MS Excellence and (1) ES Excellence, and both will qualify to the State Championship.
The event must meet the VEX IQ Qualifying Criteria for the results to upload to RobotEvents, which can be viewed in the Uploaded Documents event tab. The state qualification spots are determined by the capacity of the State Championship, the number of events in the state, and the size of the event. If there is an out-of-state/region/province/nation team, or a team that double qualifies from the event (not from previous events or other methods), that spot will go to the next highest unqualified team on the Robot Skills ranking at that event. There is no look-back to previous events to see if a team has previously qualified. These spots will be filled by the Regional Support Manager after the event has been uploaded and the results have been verified. If you have questions about the State Championship qualification process, please contact your Regional Support Manager, Lisa Schultz at [email protected].
