General Info
1/10/19 Event Update:
This event is now a blended ES/MS event. The awards have been modified to offer two Excellence Awards for each grade level. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Schultz at [email protected].
Welcome to first OLF Falcons Robotics Middle School Open Tournament!* Come test your #roboskills and have fun!
* Elementary and Middle School Open Tournaments will be run simultaneously.
Food Concessions
Small concessions will be available for purchase - CASH ONLY - such as coffee/tea, hot chocolate, waters, granola bars, candy bars, donuts, soups w/hot water, etc. Outside food may also be brought in. All food needs to stay in the lunchroom.
Practice Fields
We will have at least two practice fields available for teams. All practice fields will be open to all teams on a first-come, first-served basis, and time on the practice fields will be limited to insure that everyone can have a turn. Teams MAY NOT set up their own fields in the pit areas.
All fields will be open for use (either as Teamwork, Programming, or practice fields) by any team. NO EXCLUSIVE FIELDS. We encourage you to do your testing before the tournament.
Student Centered Event
Student-centered team behavior is expected in all aspects of the VEX IQ season and events. Adults that are building or repairing robots, or designing step-by-step game strategies (i.e. telling the students exactly what to do) are not consistent with the student-centered policy.
VEX IQ Qualifying Event
This VEX IQ event is a qualifying event to the Washington VEX IQ State Championships and is open to all registered Elementary and Middle School VEX IQ teams.
The following awards will qualify to the Washington State Championship:
(2) - Excellence (1x ES / 1x MS)
(2) - Teamwork Champions
(1) - Design
The event must meet the VEX IQ Qualifying Criteria for the results to upload to RobotEvents, which can be viewed in the Uploaded Documents event tab. The state qualification spots are determined by the capacity of the State Championship, the number of events in the state, and the size of the event. If there is an out-of-state/region/province/nation team, or a team that double qualifies from the event (not from previous events or other methods), that spot will go to the next highest unqualified team on the Robot Skills ranking at that event. There is no look-back to previous events to see if a team has previously qualified. These spots will be filled by the Regional Support Manager after the event has been uploaded and the results have been verified. If you have questions about the State Championship qualification process, please contact your Regional Support Manager, Lisa Schultz at [email protected].
