General Info
The Oregon Elementary VEX IQ State Championship is being hosted by Mt Angel Middle School Robotics Program. It is a great event for elementary school teams to compete at the State level. The event will be held in the gymnasium of Kennedy High School and is free to the public to watch.
After passing the technical inspection teams will participate in Robot Skills, Qualifying Rounds, and a Finals round.
STEM Research Presentations
The STEM Research Project Award will be awarded at all State Championships.
- Teams will submit an online video submission information to the Event Partner at least two weeks prior to the State Championship.
- Submissions will include your team number and the YouTube URL to the video. Email your submissions to Stacy Boost no later than 2/15/2019. Submissions after this date will not be considered for the STEM Research Award.
- Only one entry is allowed per team. However, each team in a multi-team school or club program may submit a separate entry. For example, both teams 123A and 123B may submit separate videos, but team 123A may not submit two videos.
- For more information about the STEM Research Project and Presentation criteria, please review the STEM Research Project and Presentation document found on the REC Foundation website.
State Championship Qualification
Oregon VEX IQ teams can qualify for the Oregon VEX IQ State Championship in two ways:
- Win a State Championship qualifying award at an Oregon VEX IQ Tournament. Please refer to the Awards tab on each VEX IQ event to view which awards are State Championship qualifying awards.
- Open spots will be filled with unqualified teams that have posted a Robot Skills score after the last VEX IQ tournament in the season.
World Championship Qualification
This event will qualify Oregon VEX IQ Elementary School teams to the VEX Robotics World Championship in Louisville, KY on April 28-30, 2018. The following awards will earn VEX Robotics World Championship spots:
- (1) Excellence Award
- (2) Teamwork Champions
If a team double qualifies for the VEX Robotics World Championships, then the Regional Support Manager will use the Oregon VEX IQ Global Skills list to determine the next qualified team from the appropriate grade level indicated on the VEX IQ Championship Qualifying Criteria. World Championship invitations from the World Skills Standings are issued by email after the results of the State Championship have been posted at events.vex.com, and will not be announced at the State Championship.
World Championship qualifying awards and invitations are issued to teams whether or not the teams have expressed an intention to attend the event. Unaccepted World Championship invitations are not offered or transferred to other teams.
If you have any questions about the qualification process, please contact your Regional Support Manager:
