Parking:
Our parking lot entrance is on NE 79th Street, though Google may direct you to 78th. Please come and park in our lot rather than on the street to avoid any inconvenience to our neighbors, there is plenty of space! Please respect marked handicap parking spots.
Entrance:
Our parking lot entrance on the West side of the building will be open and has handicap access. After entering the building, please turn left to enter the Gymnasium and check in at the table there. If you need handicap assistance, please let someone know and they will guide you through the route you need to take.
Practice Fields:
If you brought a practice field with you, please let us know at our check-in and we'll direct you to where you can set it up. If you can, please let us know before the event if you can bring your field (Kevin Tucker: 206-227-9236 call or text).
Check-In & Inspection:
Check-ins and Inspection will be occuring at the tables on the West end of the gym, nearest the main entrance. Please be sure to check in and get inspected quickly to help our officials know if any plans need to be changed due to missing teams. (If you know you cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible! (Kevin Tucker: 206-227-9236 call or text).
Team Pit tables are located in both our gym and in our auditorium to accommodate all teams. Please let us know if you have any handicaps that should be taken into account for when we assign table space.
Concessions and Lunch:
Concessions will be sold down in the auditorium. We plan to have a wide selection including baked goods, fruit, cups of soup, coffee and variety of drinks. If you have any special dietary needs, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you. (Kevin Tucker: 206-227-9236 call or text). Food may be eaten in either the gym or auditorium, we just ask that you clean up any messes!
You may bring your own snacks and lunch if you wish, but we will be selling a wide variety of snack food at our event and there are quite a number of excellent restaurants, as well as a Safeway, very near our location if you wish to run out or order in. Just ask any of our volunteers for recommendations.
T-Shirts:
One of our families has provided cool robotics event T-Shirts for us to sell at our event. We hope you will take a look and see if you would like to get one or more for your team members to take home as a momento for the event. If you would like to order one after the event is over, please contact Kevin Tucker: 206-227-9236 (call or text) and we will help you out.
Seating:
We will be providing seating around our tournament fields. There will be some space between the field area border and the first seats where students and adults may sit on the floor to observe the action. Please avoid standing in this area as it will block anyone in the seating behind you. Walk or stand behind the chairs to get to where you need to go.
Assistance/Emergency:
If you have any needs or have an emergency, please talk to someone wearing a volunteer badge and they will immediately help you with any issue that you have.
Code of Conduct:
We will be abiding by the Vex Code of Conduct and we will expect all teams, mentors and spectators to do the same. This code will be posted visibly around our spaces for reference.
Cleanup:
We will need to clean up the event and get the spaces set up for church services for the following day. If you'd like to help out, please connect with a volunteer and they'll help you know where things need to go. We appreciate your help!
Legal stuff:
The event must meet the VEX IQ Qualifying Criteria for the results to upload to RobotEvents, which can be viewed in the Uploaded Documents event tab. The state qualification spots are determined by the capacity of the State Championship, the number of events in the state, and the size of the event. If there is an out-of-state/region/province/nation team, or a team that double qualifies from the event (not from previous events or other methods), that spot will go to the next highest unqualified team on the Robot Skills ranking at that event. There is no look-back to previous events to see if a team has previously qualified. These spots will be filled by the Regional Support Manager after the event has been uploaded and the results have been verified. If you have questions about the State Championship qualification process, please contact your Regional Support Manager, Lisa Schultz at [email protected].
