The KY State Vex IQ Tournament is open to Elementary VEX IQ teams that have qualified from other events.
Kentucky has been granted 8 Elementary School VEX IQ World Championship spots. The number of qualifying spots is based on the number of registered VEX IQ Elementary School teams in Kentucky.
Kentucky VEX IQ – Elementary School State Championship has 8 World Championship spots:
- Excellence Award 1
- Teamwork Champions 2
- Teamwork Runner-up 2
- Design Award 1
- STEM Award 1
- Robot Skills 1
If a team double-qualifies for a World Championship spot, the state’s next highest ranking team from the World Skills Standings up to and including the State Championship receives the invitation. World Championship invitations from the World Skills Standings are issued by email after the results of the State Championship have been posted at events.vex.com, and will not be announced at the State Championship.
World Championship qualifying awards and invitations are issued to teams whether or not the teams have expressed an intention to attend the event. Unaccepted World Championship invitations are not offered or transferred to other teams.
Immediately following the completion of a State/Regional/Provincial Championship event, the skills challenge rankings will be finalized and the top teams in the Robot Skills Challenge may be eligible to fill unused state/regional/provincial/national spots for 2020 VEX Worlds. All scores posted after the state/regional/provincial championship will be included on the World Skills Rankings until March 12, 2020.
