General Info

Santa Fe VEX IQ Rise Above Tournament

  1. Please review rules and inspection checklist prior to your event.
  2. Ensure that robots have 2 license plates.
  3. Pack prior to your event. Suggested items to bring:
    1. Batteries and chargers
    2. Spare parts & Tools
    3. Power Strip
    4. Programming Cable
    5. Laptop
    6. Engineering Notebooks
    7. Banners/Decorations for your pit area
  4. Review descriptions of the awards being given at the tournament.
  5. Understand the game before you come to the tournament.

All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. Event Partners should continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

All cancellations will be communicated through email. Please check your email the day before and the morning of the tournament (before leaving).

Unfortunately, there will be no make-up in case of weather cancellations.

Refund and Payment Policies

No refunds will be given once registration closes. 

Health and Safety Policies

  • Follow SFISD Self-screening (see below)
  • Cloth face masks are required of all participants at all times inside the facility.
  • No spectators (SFISD will do our best to live-stream the event)
  • Suggested limit of competitors per team: 1 mentor and 3 students per robot
  • Keep pit tables at 8-10’ apart
  • No practice fields will be available
  • No queue tables, teams will be called directly from their pit tables to the field
  • Concessions
    • Packaged food only
    • Pre-order lunch individual boxes will be available
  • Electronic submission of notebooks and all paperwork (see dates in adjenda)  
  • Remote judging will take place during week of event.
  • Participants must have completed consent forms on events.vex.com
  • Avoid touching your face.  Properly sanitize your hands if you must do so.
  • Hand sanitizer is available at all entrances.  Participants are expected to clean their hands every time they move between areas (pit to field, field to pit, etc.)
  • No sharing of personal items or robot parts between teams (Teams from the same school may share batteries and are expected to use appropriate sanitary cautions when doing so.)

COVID-19 Self-Screening Acknowledgement

As always, Santa Fe ISD student and staff health and safety are a top priority. As such, any person entering a Santa Fe ISD facility must self-screen for the below listed COVID-19 symptoms and take their temperature before entering a Santa Fe ISD facility each day. When self-screening, you must determine if you have started experiencing any of the following symptoms that are not normal for you.

Feeling feverish of 100.0 degrees or higher

Sore throat

Loss of taste or smell

Cough

Difficulty breathing

Shortness of breath

Fatigue

Headache

Chills

Congestion or runny nose

Shaking or exaggerated shivering

Significant muscle pain or ache

Diarrhea

Nausea or vomiting

Known close contact with a person who is lab confirmed to have COVID-19*

 

Webcast

We will make our best effort to livestream the event. We will use Skype so that we can run it all day. The event will be from 8am until 1:30pm.

Judging

Judging for this tournament will take place remotely.  Please use the link below to submit your engineering notebook. 

Only finalists for the Design Award will be interviewed.  Interviews will take place on Wednesday 3/24 from 5:30-8pm.  Teams to be interviewed will be contacted by 5pm Monday 3/22 with a specific time and a link for their interview.  According to judging rules, an adult team mentor MUST be in any virtual meetings between students and judges.  Teams without a mentor in the meeting will not be interviewed and disqualified from the Design Award.

Lunch Pre-Orders

Help us help you with a pre-order lunch

We are pre-ordering lunch for any team that would like to order. 

We ask that each team competing in the tournament who would like to pre-order, please fill out ONE group order. This year we will be offering Chick Fil A (Sandwich, chips, cookie and a drink), $8 per meal. 

Please decide your team order (one order per team) and fill out this form by 11:59  PM Thursday, March 18th. Please submit one team payment.  We will be able to accept cash, credit cards and checks (made payable to "SFJH Robotics Club) at check on the day of the event. Payment in full must be received by 8:30am on 3/27/2021 or your order will be cancelled.
