General Info
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Damien Spartan Challenge VEX IQ Middle School Tournament. We are excited to bring together some of Southern California's finest teams and battle for a chance to go to the state championships. If this event is full please place yourself on the wait list.
Teams that have not checked in 45 minutes prior to the beginning of the qualifying matches will be dropped from the roster so that the match list may be run. Teams that are running late must contact the event partner prior to this cut off if they do not wish to be dropped.
Teams must be paid three weeks prior to the event. Teams not paid at this time may be dropped at the event partner's discretion to allow teams in from the wait list.
Match Lists will be generated as scheduled and cannot be re-run.
Participation and Consent Form
A completed form for all participants must be uploaded on events.vex.com prior to the event.
Judging
We plan to do judging remotely but that may change to in person judging depending on Covid restrictions at the time. For remote judging teams will sign up for a 20 minute time slot where they will log into a zoom meeting. They will have 10 minutes to answer 9 questions. Notebooks will be turned in digitally and will be due one week before the competition.
Spectating
Depending on Covid restrictions, spectating at the event may be limited. Notifications to teams will be sent via email at least 2 weeks before the event.
Masks
Masks must be worn by all individuals inside the event regaurdless of vaccination status.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
The event partner will contact teams if the event must be postponed. Teams should make sure their contact information is up to date on events.vex.com and includes both school and non-school email addresses and phone numbers.
Refund and Payment Policies
All requests for refunds must be made three weeks prior to the event. Refunds, if approved, will be processed within one month following the event.
Payment in full is required 3 weeks prior to tournament or teams may be dropped by the event partner.
Health and Safety Policies
We will be following the guidelines of the LA County Health Department. Masks are required by all individuals indoors regardless of vacination status. Please check the LA County Health Department for the most current guidelines.

Judging Format
Remote Judging - The Team Interviews will be conducted remotely, and Engineering Notebooks will be submitted to judges electronically. Interviews and Notebook submission deadlines may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
