General Info
Trojan Robotics Full Volume VIQRC tournament will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
This tournament is open to both middle school and elementary VIQRC teams and will be a mixed tournament, meaning that teams at both levels will partner with and compete against each other.
Registration Information
All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.
Engineering notebooks
We will be collecting Physical engineering notebooks at this event for judging.
Lunch and Concessions
Full concessions will be available from 9 am to 3 pm. Lunch specials will be announced.
Finals Matches
All teams from the qualification rounds will participate in Finals. These teams will be automatically paired into 8 Alliances. The top scoring alliance in Finals will earn the Teamwork Champion Award.
Awards
The following awards will be given out: Excellence, Teamwork Champions, Teamwork 2nd place, Design, Robot Skills Champion, Robot Skills 2nd place, Judges and Energy.
Competition Preparation
All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX IQ parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the IQ Robot Inspection Checklist

Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament.

Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judge's Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.

Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your IQ Brain.
Participation and Consent Form
A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament. Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
In case of bad weather conditions or possible cancellations please visit the event on RobotEvents.com where we will post updates about the event status as needed. If the event is cancelled or postponed, then the title of the event will be changed to "Cancelled or postponed" in Robotevents.com."If any questions arise please contact Mari Haley at 641-485-4157 the day of the event.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event:
Full refunds, minus the $5.00 processing fee, will be issued if the event is cancelled by the event partner. Please alllow up to 4 weeks to receive the refund.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
Full refunds, minus the $5.00 processing fee, will be available until two weeks (14 days) before the tournament. After that, refunds based on special circumstances may be made at the discretion of the event partner.
Health and Safety Policies
DUTY TO SELF-MONITOR:
Participants and volunteers agree to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath) and agree to not attend if any symptoms, potential exposure, or suspected illness are present. As a participant, volunteer, or attendee, You recognize that your participation, involvement and/or attendance at the Trojan Robotics VIQRC tournament is voluntary and runs the risk of potential exposure of Covid-19. You take this risk by participation and hold Trojan Robotics or West Marshall Community School District blameless.
Judging Format
- All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
