General Info

Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 Gold Coast Middle School VEXIQ League at Pine Crest School! Please read all of the information in this section carefully before registering so that you understand how the league will work. If you have any questions, email Kris Swanson - [email protected].

Logistics

  • There will be four Saturday afternoon League Events (10/21,12/9, 1/20, and 2/3) each consisting of 2-3 Teamwork Challenge Matches and the oppurunity to complete 3 Driver Control and 3 Autonomus Programming matches. Please see the agenda for specific times.
  • Due to the size of the space we use for League Events, along with Pine Crest School's security requirements, there will be no spectators at League Events this year. One adult coach / chaperone per registered team may attend.
  • Dropoff / PIckup will take place in the Bell Tower circle in the front of the Boca Raton Campus.
  • Teams are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles, as we have a filling station available in the Pit Area.

Rules / Judging

  • We will follow the REC Foundation guidelines for Leagues as outlined in the Full Volume Game Manual, as well as all other rules and requirements in the most current version of the Game Manual.
  • We will follow all of the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student Centered guidelines throughout the League season.
  • As per REC Foundation Guidelines, please be sure to have parents submit release forms through the system described in RobotEvents.
  • Engineering Notebooks will be submitted digitally, and will be due around 1/12/24 so that they can be reviewed prior to our third League session.
  • In person team interviews will take place during our third League Session.
  • Teamwork finals and the Award Ceremony will take place at our fourth Leage Session.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If bad weather is predected before the event, coaches will be contacted and the event will be rescheduled.

If bad weather occurs during the event, we will follow Pine Crest School's Security Guidelines to seek shelter, depending on the weather event.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event all payments will be refunded.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend, payment will be refunded minus the REC Foundation standard fee as long as the cancellation is two weeks or more before the event begins.

If one of the League Event Days is cancelled due to bad weather, or issues at the event site, we will do our best to reschedule that day's event but will skip that day if there is no other choice.

Judging Format

In-Person Team Interviews / Remote Engineering Notebooks: Engineering Notebooks will be conducted remotely, during the week before the event. Team Interviews will take place in person the day of the event by the judges.
