General Info
Please join us for the VEX IQ Mix and Match Deep Creek Winter Tide Tournament at Deep Creek Middle School in Chesapeake, VA! This is a blended VEX IQ event open to both Elementary and Middle School teams and will serve as a qualifier for the Virginia State Championship.
We will have 1–2 practice fields available in the morning, but these will be converted to competition fields once matches begin. Skills challenges will run until the final qualifying match. Teams are strongly encouraged to bring their own practice fields if possible.
Please note that this event is tentative and may be canceled due to inclement weather or district/school closures.
Payment is due by January 2, 2026. Teams who do not submit payment by this deadline will be moved to the waiting list to allow other teams the opportunity to register.
Breakfast and lunch options including Chick-fil-A will be available for purchase at the concession stand. No outside food or drink is permitted, in accordance with district policy (water is allowed). A full concession menu will be available throughout the event.
We look forward to seeing you at the Deep Creek Winter Tide Tournament for a great day of robotics, teamwork, and fun!

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
The Winter Tide Tournament follows the Chesapeake Public Schools emergency and inclement weather policies. In the event of severe weather or any district-mandated closures, the tournament may be postponed or canceled for the safety of all participants.
If the event must be canceled due to weather or other emergencies, all registered teams will be notified by email as soon as a decision is made. Updates will also be posted on the RobotEvents listing and other communication platforms associated with the event.
In the event of a cancellation, refunds will be issued to all teams minus the $5 RECF processing fee, which is non-refundable.
Please monitor local weather forecasts and stay alert to updates from the tournament organizer as the event date approaches.
Refund and Payment Policies
No refunds will be issued unless the tournament is canceled due to inclement weather or by the Event Partner for any reason.
In the event of a cancellation, a partial refund of $85 will be provided. This refund will be less the $5 non-refundable processing fee charged by the REC Foundation and will help cover expenses already incurred in preparation for the event.
If a team registers and submits payment but later chooses to withdraw and not attend, no refund will be issued, regardless of the reason.
All teams must submit payment by January 2, 2026. Teams who have not paid by this date will be moved to the waitlist, unless alternative arrangements have been made in advance via email with Event Partner Melodie Surratt.
Please plan accordingly, and contact us with any questions or concerns regarding payment.
Judging Format
All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
