General Info
Thank you for choosing the 10th Annual Jenison Robotics Tournament for your school's elementary IQ teams to compete! We look forward to seeing you!
This year we are running:
- 4 tournament fields in the Jenison Junior High Gym.
- 3 Skills fields in the cafeteria
- There will also be a few practice fields set up
Pit tables, seating, and electrical power will be provided for each team attending, along with plenty of spectator seating. Teams are welcome to bring their food. Only teams that are checked in on time will be allowed to compete. If you are running late, please call Tim Hoyt at 616-802-8180 to make arrangements.
Lunch and Concessions
- Concessions will be available throughout the day. There will be coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts in the morning. There will be water, soda, candy, and snacks throughout the day.
- A lunch ticket will be available for purchase, which includes two pieces of pizza, a snack, and a drink.
Engineering notebooks
All Teams Engineering Notebooks must be a physical notebook and submitted upon arrival. We will not have the ability to print a notebook on-site, and we cannot accept electronic devices or URLs as submissions.
Registration Information
All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.
Finals Matches
Up to 20 teams will be paired up and participate in the Finals matches.
Competition Preparation
All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are ready.

Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition, allowing ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX IQ parts. Please self-inspect before arriving at the tournament using the IQ Robot Inspection Checklist.

Be sure to read VEX Tournaments 101.

Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards being presented during the tournament.

Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judge's Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

Remember that safety comes first. Please refrain from bringing tools that pose a safety risk to your team or others nearby, as teams are closely situated in the venue pit area. Also, remember not to grind or perform any other actions that create sparks.

Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your IQ Brain.
Participation and Consent Form
A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com before the tournament. Team leaders will need to verify that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form before the tournament. Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
In the event of bad weather conditions or possible cancellations, please visit the event on Robotevents.com, where we will post updates about the event status as needed. Feel free to call Tim Hoyt at 616-802-8180 if you have any questions.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event:
Your registration fee will be refunded, minus the fees that Robotevents.com charges. For a speedy refund, please email [email protected] with your team number, the name to whom the refund check will be made out, and your mailing address for the refund.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event, then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
If a coach or mentor registers for this event and then chooses to withdraw or fails to attend for any reason, no refund will be given.
Payment Policy
Event payments are due upon registration and must be completed (showing 'PAID') at least two weeks before the event date. Unpaid teams will be removed from the event to allow teams on my wait list to register. Please get in touch with us if there are considerations to be made: [email protected]
Judging Format
Judging for this event will be conducted in person. Teams will need to submit a physical engineering notebook upon check-in. We will not have the capability to print a notebook for any team, and we cannot accept an electronic device or a URL to download a digital notebook. Please be on the lookout for an email as we approach the event, which will outline the exact judging process for the day.
