Kick off the new year with sun, sand, and STEM at the GISD Beach Bot Winter IQ Games in Galveston! This blended VEX IQ event is the perfect way to wrap up your season with high-energy competition and a splash of coastal fun. Join us in January for a tournament filled with exciting matches, winter-meets-beach vibes, and plenty of robot action by the Gulf. Whether you're chasing a final win or just soaking up the STEM spirit, there's no better place to compete than where winter chill meets island thrill!

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

The safety of all participants is our top priority. In the event of severe weather or other emergencies that could impact travel or venue conditions, Galveston ISD will monitor local forecasts and consult with district officials. Any decisions regarding delays, rescheduling, or cancellation will be communicated as early as possible via email, the event’s RobotEvents.com page, and social media if applicable.

If the event must be canceled due to weather or emergencies, we will make every effort to reschedule. If rescheduling is not possible, refunds will be issued as appropriate.

Please use your best judgment when traveling and stay safe. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility!

Refund and Payment Policies

If the event partner cancels the event:
In the event that GISD must cancel the Robot & Reindeer Rumble due to weather, emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances, all registered teams will receive a full refund of the event registration fee. We will also communicate promptly via email and the event’s RobotEvents.com page with updates and next steps.

If a coach/mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
Teams that choose to withdraw after registration is complete will not receive a refund. Please contact the event partner as soon as possible if you need to cancel. We appreciate your understanding, as event planning and expenses are based on registered team numbers.

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact. The submission deadline for digital notebooks will take place the Friday before the week of the event (Jan 23).
