Event Overview

The VIQRC Regional Rounds are official qualifying events where teams compete to secure their spot at the National Championship. These events provide a platform for teams to showcase their robot design, collaboration skills, and strategic gameplay in a competitive yet encouraging environment. It’s a key milestone in the journey toward national and global recognition.

What to Bring

Robot: Your robot should be fully assembled, tested, and compliant with VIQRC regulations.
Engineering Notebook: Strongly recommended for teams pursuing judged awards.
Game Manual: Keep a printed or digital copy for quick reference.
Tools & Spares: Be prepared for any in-event fixes or tweaks.
Team Identity: Banners, uniforms, or team posters are encouraged to show off your team spirit!

Rules and Regulations

Teams must follow the official VIQRC competition rules. Event-specific instructions and updates will be communicated by the event organizers prior to the round.

As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the event. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with setup and teardown
  • Refereeing matches
  • Providing technical support to teams
  • Helping with scoring and data entry

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of an emergency or severe weather conditions, the following policies will be implemented:

Cancellation

  • Extreme Weather: If the local authorities issue a severe weather warning or if conditions pose a safety risk, the scrimmage may be canceled or postponed.
  • Emergency Situations: In the event of an emergency (e.g., power outage, natural disaster), the scrimmage may be canceled or postponed.

Postponement

  • Rescheduling: If the scrimmage is postponed, we will make every effort to reschedule the event as soon as possible.
  • Communication: Participants will be notified of any changes through email or other communication channels.

Safety Protocols

  • Evacuation Plan: We have an emergency evacuation plan in place. In case of an emergency, all participants will be guided to a safe location.
  • First Aid: First aid kits will be available on-site. In case of a medical emergency, please inform a staff member immediately.

Judging Format

 

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
