General Info
Welcome to the 2026 Utah VEX IQ Robotics Competition Mix & Match Middle School State Championship!
The Middle School State Championship will be held at Syracuse Junior High on Saturday, February 28, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. We are happy to welcome the top 40 middle school teams in Utah!
- We are giving out a TON of awards: 14 trophies and 5 spots to VEX Worlds.
- Teams will submit digital notebooks. Please upload your notebook link to Robot Events by Friday, February 20, 2026.
- There will be a costume contest. The team with the best costumes will win a prize!
- There will be a pit decorating contest. The team with the best pit will win a prize!
- We will have a parade of teams at the beginning of the tournament. Each team can make a poster with their team's number/name on it for the parade.
- State Championship shirts are provided for each team again this year (up to 6 members).
- Student of the year awards will be given out again this year.
- Concessions will be sold for $1 each.
The 2026 Utah VEX IQ Robotics Competition Mix & Match Middle School State Championship has been granted 5 VEX Robotics World Championship spots.
If a team double-qualifies for a World Championship spot, the state’s next highest ranking team from the State Championship Skills Rankings receives the invitation. World Championship invitations from the Skills Standings are offered after the results of the State Championship have been posted at robotevents.com, and will not be announced at the State Championship.
World Championship qualifying awards and invitations are issued to teams whether or not the teams have expressed an intention to attend the event. Unaccepted World Championship invitations are not offered or transferred to other teams.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
If we are unable to have the tournament due to weather, you will be notified and the tournament will be re-scheduled.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event: Refunds will be given minus the $5 non-refundable Robot Events fee.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: no refunds will be given.
Event payment is due on February 20, 2026.

Judging Format
The judging format for the State Championship will follow the following format:
- Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. Notebooks must be submitted by Friday, February 20, 2026.
