General Info

Thank you for registering for our Roaring Robotics event. The University of North Alabama and Kilby Laboratory School are committed to hosting a high-quality tournament with an enjoyable experience for all participants. Please note that the tournament location has been changed. It will now take place in the HUB @ Underwood Baptist. (5091 AL-157, Florence 35633) 

 

 

We will be running a MS/ES BLENDED competition on Saturday, January 31st, 2026. The event will feature the following awards:

  • Excellence Award for ES & MS

    • (We must have at least 10 in each ES & MS to give two excellence awards. If there are not 10 in each, all teams will compete for 1 Excellence Award.)

  • Teamwork Champion

  • Teamwork 2nd Place

  • Robot Skills Champion

  • Robot Skills 2nd Place

  • Design, Innovate, Judges, and Sportsmanship Awards

Engineering notebooks must be submitted virtually before 12:00 pm(Noon) (Central Time) on January 10th.

Notebooks with a submission date/time stamp after the deadline specified will NOT be considered for judged awards and will not be reviewed. No exceptions.

Team interviews will be conducted on-site the day of the event, and Robot Skills challenges will also take place on-site.

To qualify for the judged awards, teams must submit their Engineering Notebook virtually by the deadline and compete in the Robot Skills challenge on event day. Teams that fail to meet these requirements will not be considered for the awards.

Concessions will be available for purchase at the event.

All team registration fees must be paid within two weeks of registering. If fees are not paid, the team will be moved to the waitlist.

All participants must complete the participant release form (available in English and Spanish). This form covers all events for the entire season.

The Robot Skills field(s) will be used only for Programming and Driver skills events and will open at 8:30 am.

Teams CANNOT conduct robot skills runs until AFTER passing inspection.

Do not use the skills fields/competition fields for practice at any time (even during lunch).

 

Volunteer

Vex tournaments depend heavily on volunteers to keep costs down for participating teams. If you'd like to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Misty Buerhaus @ [email protected] or Dr. Eric Kirkman @ [email protected] at least one week before the event so we can assign you to a spot on the volunteer schedule. Thank you for your willingness to make this event a success by volunteering your time, assistance, and resources.

 

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled. A final call on the cancellation will be made no later than noon on Friday, January 23rd, and an email will be sent to all registered teams at that time. No phone calls will be made. Please ensure that you have a primary and secondary point of contact for each team you represent in the event that this plan must be initiated.

Please see the refund policy in the event of cancellation by the event partner.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event, refunds will be sent.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event and then chooses to withdraw or not attend, no refunds will be permitted.

 

 

Judging Format

  •  Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In-Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. The submission deadline for this event is January 10, 2026. (12:00 pm (Noon) Central Time)
