General Info

Please join us for the VEX IQ Mix and Match Gator “Chompetition” Tournament at Greenbrier Christian Academy in Chesapeake, VA! This is a blended VEX IQ event and will serve as a qualifier for the Virginia State Championship.

We will have two competition fields in-use during the tournament.

Skills challenges will run until the final qualifying match. Teams are strongly encouraged to bring their own practice fields if possible.

Please note that this event may be canceled due to inclement weather or district/school closures.

Payment is due by January 26, 2026. Teams who do not submit payment by this deadline will be moved to the waiting list to allow other teams the opportunity to register.

No outside food or drink is permitted (water is allowed). A full concession menu including pizza will be available throughout the event.

7:30–9:15 AM	Team Check-in / Inspection / Turn in Engineering Notebooks
9:15–9:30 AM	Mandatory Drivers Meeting
9:30–9:45 AM	Opening Ceremonies – Welcome, Team Introductions, Game Overview
10:00–12:30 PM	Qualification Matches Begin / Skills Fields Open
12:30–1:15 PM	Lunch Break – Concessions with pizza available
1:15–3:30 PM	Qualification Matches Resume / Skills Fields Remain Open
3:30–3:50 PM	Practice Time for Finals / Alliance Selection
3:50–4:15 PM	Finals Matches and Awards Ceremony
4:15–4:30 PM	Event Wrap-Up / Clean-Up / Departure

Notes:

Skills runs will be available throughout qualification matches and will close at the conclusion of the final qualifying match.
Teams are encouraged to sign up for Skills early to avoid missing the deadline.
All teams must be checked in by 9:15 AM to be included in the match schedule.
If the event runs ahead or behind schedule, minor adjustments may be made on-site.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Greenbrier Christian Academy follows emergency and inclement weather policies. In the event of severe weather or any mandated closures, the tournament may be postponed or canceled for the safety of all participants.

If the event must be canceled due to weather or other emergencies, all registered teams will be notified by email as soon as a decision is made. Updates will also be posted on the RobotEvents listing and other communication platforms associated with the event.
In the event of a cancellation, refunds will be issued to all teams minus the $5 RECF processing fee, which is non-refundable.
Please monitor local weather forecasts and stay alert to updates from the tournament organizer as the event date approaches.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
