General Info
Somerset Oaks Leadership and Innovation is thrilled to present this VEX IQ tournament for Elementary School students. We anticipate a day brimming with robotics competition and enthusiasm. We can't wait to witness the brilliance of all teams!
Every participant is required to fill out the participant release form. This form, also accessible in Spanish, needs to be completed just once for the entire season, encompassing all events.
- Arrival/Check-in: Students, Coaches, and parents should make every effort to arrive by 8:00AM to check-in on time, with Inspection-ready robots.
- Code of Conduct/Student Centered: All participants should abide by the REC Foundation Code of Conduct VIQRC and the Student Centered Policy VIQRC- PARENTS PLEASE REVIEW CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS
- Pits and Competition Area: Check the information in the envelope given to the Coach at check-in. Only coaches and the teams should be at the pits. Parents are invited to sit and enjoy the matches in the competition area. Your pit number is your team number. Please stay in your pit area between competing to make it eaiser for other for teams to find you to work on strategy and so judges can located you for interviews.
- Inspections: All robots should pass inspection after check-in. Inspections open at 8:00 AM and close at 8:45 AM. To avoid delays on the day of the competition, please pre-inspect your robots at your schools. .
- Charging Stations: Please bring your chargers, batteries, charging cables, extension cords, and power strips to the competition.
- Practice Fields: Practice Fields are allowed as long as there is space. We will have limited space in a designated area for practice fields. If you bring a practice field, it is expected you will allow other teams to practice on the field with you.
- Skills and Qualification Matches: These events will take place simultaneously. Teams should manage their time accordingly if they are planning to compete in Robot Skills matches. Check envelope given at check-in for SKILLS CARD.
- Food: We will send out information concerning lunch soon.
- Digital Engineering Notebooks will be judged in this competition and are due February 15th, 2025 .

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
In case of an emergency or bad weather, primary team contacts will be notified by the Event Partner.
Refund and Payment Policies
- If the Event Partner cancels the event: Should there be a need to cancel an event, efforts will be made to set a new date to ensure participants have a chance to compete. If rescheduling isn't feasible, participants will be reimbursed minus a $5 fee retained by RECF to cover transaction costs. For any queries regarding this rule, please contact the event partner.
- If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event and then chooses to withdraw or not attend: Refunds won't be provided unless there's a backup team on standby that can take the place of the departing team. If a standby team is available to replace the exiting team, a refund, excluding the $5 REC transaction fee, will be processed. For further clarification on this policy, please engage with the event partner.
- If a registered team has not paid by the payment deadline of February 1st, 2026, that team will be wait listed to make room for another team
Judging Format
Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation by 11:59pm on February 9th, via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents.
